Hi there,
I successfully claimed my bank charges from Barclays about a year ago but they've continued to charge me and the amount of money they've taken from my account has creeped up again. Can I possibly claim back the money they've taken since I got my charges back or am I being cheeky? It's not nearly as much as before but it's still £200 or so.
Thanks for reading!0 -

Yep, me too, I claimed £1300 from First direct after a couple of months of letters to and fro etc and court online process, 2nd and 3rd time I just emailed them via online banking service and received payment in full into my account within 10 days.
2nd claim £360 and 3rd claim received today £752, I'm really pleased !!Personal Loan: £11,488 3.7% Credit card: £5,946 0% Total = £17,4340 -
Hi, a bit of a naive question but is it possible to reclaim bank charges more than once? I've received some charges back but as I'm still being charged more or less every month should I keep reclaiming?0

I too would like to know this. So far I've been charged again.
They done this just before they paid me up...0 -
Remember, the complaint against bank charges is that the high level charges are unlawful.
The general guidelines are that the banks should be allowed to recover their cost, it is the scale of the cost that is disputed, and hence why the banks are settling out of court.
Therefore, in theory, you should be able to reclaim again, although the banks may fight a little harder this time. When you accepted any charge refund in the past they possibly included a letter saying they would defend in the future on the basis of the 'goodwill gesture', but I don't think this has ever been tested in court.
Its up to you, I would probably have a go, as they certainly can't do anything except defend. They may though have a better case for closing your account if they can prove to the Ombudsman that you've been claiming charges then building-up more charges.
If you've had charges back and then are still getting charges then you may wish to consider how you run your account and there are discussions on how to do this on the forum - it might save the hassle in the future (easier said than done, I know from experience, but just a suggestion)0 -
I'll be doing it against Halifax again, just changed where my salary goes to so those swines will be getting a letter from me again.:beer:0

Hi Guys,
Earlier this year I got all of my bank charges back from NatWest (£720). In the last 2 weeks, we have had a few extra bills come in which has seen us go over our overdraft limit, resulting in 4 charges of £38 each.
Can I go through the process again to get them back? I called their call centre and they said because I had already accepted one settlement, it meant I also accepted any further charges they may impose.
If I can do it again, I would really appreciate it somebody could give me some idea of what to write in the letters as I can't send them the same ones again.:j30/7/10:j

Im sorry but someone who has to claim back charges twice, should only have basic bank account, because obviously you can't look afer money and you spend more than you have. HAVE YOU NEVER HEARD OF INTERNET BANKING. easy way to check finances and not get fees.0

As I mentioned yesterday, HSBC asked me to return my switch card, and were offering me a managed loan, which I did not accept, as my court date is on the 2nd August.
They have continued to apply charges to my account since I made my claim, and it has been a vicious cycle, as I go overdrawn with the charges.
I got home this afternoon and the letter from D and G solicitors had arrived.;)
I am not clear with the jargon, could someone out there please clarify for me
"I accept the sum in full and final settlement of my claim against HSBC for the charges applied to my account in the period Oct to Jan. I agree not to make any other claims relating to charges for the period stipulated above. I also agree to keep the fact of my cliam and the ex gratia payment made my Hsbc strictly confidential."
1.HSBC continued to charge me after January, so this does not mean I cannot make a second claim, right?
2. Has anyone made a second claim on the same account yet, and if so was your account closed?
