Ive recently sucsesfully claimed all my charges back from both Alliance and leicester and the Halifax. But now ive just been slammed £270 in 1 months charges from Abbey! What can i do about this? I really cant afford for them to close my account as no other bank will take me on due to poor credit history. Please help.
  • before i knew that u cud reclaim the charges i actually had a charge put on my account and argued with the operator untill she sed ok i'll refund the money but we can only do this once...this was quite a while ago an the other day i recieved anothe rcharge an demanded that it was refunded but was told that beacuse i was refunded before they will not do it again...does this mean that exceptin the first refund means i've stupidly made it so that i cant claim back again as they gave me back that first charge as a 'Good will gesture" an tell me to get lost when i claim?

Yes, you can claim again. Firstly, the previous refund was a gesture of goodwill. Secondly, you didn't sign any undertaking to never claim again.

The call centre staff may only be allowed to allow one refund per customer, but that is an internal policy decision.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
  • Thats great news...i reckon i've got atleast £1000 owed already an i'm still finding statements...am i right in thinkin that if i work out the dates i dont have i can request copies of them from my bank?

My other half claimed her bank charges back from Halifax bank of Scotland last year June.

Was successful and got about £500 back.

Since then she has had about 10 bank charges applied to her account for one reason or another.

Can we set up another claim, from when the 1st claim left off?

    Success rate ?

The Halifax have or are planning to charge me £312 since may. Obviously this is a lot of money. They are unwilling to drop any as a good will gesture as they apparently have no goodwill for me as I reclaimed back in January. But can I do it all over again? I really cannot afford to pay the charges from this that are yet to be taken from my account, as that is more than a weeks wages, and the cycle will just keep happening if they take this money. As next month I will be short of money again. HELP!

You can still claim as the charges are STILL UNLAWFUL! :)

Dont think you can, if you have signed a settlement offer and they have paid the amount you agreed to dont think you can then reclaim. I may be wrong though.
