Claimed & Won.... now need to claim again..

Hi,

Just a quick question...

In August i challenged my bank for £700 worth of charges. I got as far as my LBA and has a good will gesture of £570 put into my account.

Being Christmas and that, i seem to have incurred a few charges which totoal to an amount of £400! Can i claim again??? Surely if the refunded the first time they were admittiing they did wrong???

Thanks x x ;)

You can make another claim as long as you didn't sign an agreement stating you would not make any further claims when they gave you the previous amount.

They would not have admitted anything, most likely just given you the money as a gesture of goodwill.

Many thanks and the letter is already printed and about to be posted.
  • Hi

I claimed back some charges in March this year for the previous 6 years however in the past few months I have also been charged stupidly.

Does anyone know if I can claim again or if anyone has attempted this?

    Thanks

You should be able to claim these back as well. Remind them you've already gone through the process once before, and they may settle a bit quicker for you (possibly).

  • i have already claimed from my two banks hsbc and smile - successgully and in full without doing a mcol so i was really lucky.

my problem is now I have started receiving charges again - only £25 and £50 respectively so far - my question is can I claim again next year fpr these charges? Or is tehre anything i can do about it now - i have spoken to smile as they are chargeing today 2 x £25 for 2 transactions of £4 each -silly isn't it - they said because we've refunded all your chagres that means youare aware of our charges and you can't claim for us again??

If you did not sign an agreement when you were paid your previous charges then you can claim again. However from what you've said it sounds like the bank is under the impression you have agreed to such a condition. Also note, the bank are more likely to close your account if you continue to make claims, so make sure you have the necessary fallback in place.
  • Last year I claimed back £885 worth of bank charges from HSBC - I have now, because I am useless at controlling my spending, had another £200 bank charges since I last claimed.

Am I ok to claim these new charges back again?

Only if you didn't sign a letter agreeing not to claim any future charges. Also be aware they are more likely to close your account if you claim a second time!
  • the bank are more than likely to refuse you claim and close your account because ideally you should have learnt your lesson the first time and not have incured any further charges.
Since I have realised what an idiot I was to have incurred all of these charges in the first place and how badly it has effected my credit scoring etc I fully intend on keeping a close eye on my acocunt to make sure I never incur another charge again.
