Claimed & Won.... now need to claim again..

Hello All,
I am hoping for a bit of advice from someone. I recently successfully claimed £196 & £318 back in charges from Natwest this month :money: I accepted thier offer / goodwill payments and signed off on the form they included. Payments received, paperwork in the bin, job done. Or so I thought!
Checked my Natwest account online yesterday only to find a £28 charge for going overdraw because of a previous charge, usual scenario. This charge was incured during January but only taken from the account 1st March.
I began my claims process in January and got all charges back at the end of Feb. If I'd realised that this charge was going to be taken I would have included it in the list I sent them.
My question is, as I have now signed off on Natwest's letter, do I have any grounds for reclaiming this charge as it was incured before I signed Natwests form?
£28 is £28  and I am intending to close my Natwest accounts (as the charges have cleared an overdraft with them) anyway so have no fear of upsetting them.
Hope someone has had something similar happen and can shed some light on my options?
Thanks in advance,
K0 -
Get your paperwork back out of the bin and check whether you signed any agreement not to claim further charges
Either way I would personally handle it by writing to say that the charge fell within the time period of your previous claim and as such you require (or request, up to you ) refund immediately. That the fact it was taken out of your account after this period was unforseeable and it would have been claimed previously also.
This might work (its certainly worth a try) or you may need to begin the claim process again. Good luck, as you say £28 is £28 and better in your pocket that theirs0 -
Thanks Twinkly, that was how I was thinking of approaching it. Just wanted to make sure it was arguable in someone elses eyes.

Hi there
Fantastic site!
Hoped somebody might be able to help. Im helping my sister claim back bank charges and credit card charges but she has got in such a mess with it.
She wrote to them (Halifax) last summer to ask for around £400 back using Daily mail template letter. After toing and froing they said they would pay her £90 as a goodwill gesture as 'full and final' settlement of her complaint. She thought that was as good as she could get and signed it.
In light of everything happening this year could I help her to try and get the rest back or is that it?
She has also had charges since then (she's been having a tough time and isnt always very financially organised) can i try and get those back for her?
Been so grateful for any thoughts. Wish I'd got involved before but c'est la vie!
Many many thanks0 -

If a full and final settlement has been signed in respect of these charges, you cannot make another claim. She has also had charges since then (she's been having a tough time and isnt always very financially organised) can i try and get those back for her?
As long as when the previous claim was settled, nothing was signed to state that the customer would not claim further charges. The likelyhood of the bank closing the account is much higher if you make a second claim.0 -
Hi there,
Please can anyone tell me if you can put in another claim after your claim has been settled with the same bank and account.
I received £580 from Nat West recently and while all this was going through they charged me another £150 and I would like to now claim that back. Is this possible? When they credited my account with the £580, obviousy I didn't see the full benefit as they had slapped on more charges.0 -

Yes, but it is most likely they will shut the account if you claim again."He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
He will kill your cat and nail him to the door"

If you do get another account , transfer everything over, i.e direct debits standing orders ect. Then go for it. Close the account yourself when finshed. That is of course if you are not bothered about banking with them.0

I have successfully managed to be offered £1250 out of a claim of £1400. I am prepared to sign the "acceptence form" but I have two questions for you clever folk
a) If I sign this seemingly standard form which has the words.."Confirm that I have accepted the offer of £1,256 from Halifax in full and final settlement of my complaint regarding bank charges made on my Halifax account" - from a laymans legal point of view what time period will this cover?
b) I do not want the above to preclude future claims so should I
1) Do nothing as legally I can make future claims which are outside the assumed time period
2) Add some wisely words stating the time period in the acceptence form (ie 1st Feb 2001 to 1st Feb 2006. By adding such words I am worried I may negate the offer?
Any view most welcome - and I appreciate these will be based on laymans views or experience0 -
I was just wondering if anyone has claimed twice at same bank or on same account. I am in the process of doing this now as while my first claim was going through (and successful £560) they charged me another £140. I hope to close the account once this has been sorted.
I also have a business account with the same bank and I have today sent them a letter requesting they pay back £175.
So that will make it 3 claims with Nat West within 2 months, I'm just wondering what my chances are.0
