You are always claiming back for a maximum of 6 years from the date you are claiming so there is no problem in claiming again, as long as you haven't signed anything last time round that you wouldn't claim again.
    Reclaimed thanks to this site:
£175 Abbey Mortgage Repayment Fee, £170.03 Capital One Bank Charges £418.07 Lloyds TSB Bank Charges, £2,671.55 Mis-sold Endowment Policy, all for OH

Are you going to try and claim now? Ive just been told by HSBC that they are putting all claims on hold until the outcome of the case is known

  • How the hell do you have to claim up to 3 times !!

With the reclaimed bank charges the first time did some people not think of clearing some debt, rather than go on a spending spree !

Surely a lesson was learned the first time without having to claim up to 3 times !!

As i say in the article' the best way to avoid bank charges is not to have them in the first place.

Every day I get scores of emails from people telling me that reclaiming charges has given them a fresh lease of life, and they'll never be charged again. Like all things, some people don't learn their lesson.

In others, people's finances are already so messed up catching back is impossible and they need to seek help.

As for providing the info on how to do it properly. That's what every article on the site, barring the reclaiming articles, are all about. The vast majority of the editorial on this site is about how to manage your money properly. It's all covered. Yet we're about providing the information; hoping to empower them; not about dictating how people behave or what they do.

  • Hi, i'm a first post newbie so be gentle.
I successfully claimed back £1200 from the Halifax in May this year from which other debts were cleared. I thought I had been managing my account up unitil today when i checked my online statement with them and noticed I have been charged 4 times since at £30 a go. I spoke to a guy (robot reading from a script) at the Halifax to try and reimburse the £120 and he said the conditions of the successful claim was that all future charges stand and cannot be re-claimed. Is this true?
Also can anyone refer a "better" bank as the Halifax are really peeing me off at the moment?

i,ll be gentle but to be honest checking your bank statement online every 3 months is a bit stupid dont you think....what if that had been a fraudulent matter? and if you accepted the payment as full and final he is right.

Advice: Check your bank account every day. It's very simple online. Would have stopped this. Halifax have done nothing wrong.

    NO! He is definately wrong!

you only accepted full and final settlement of the claim you were making at the time and only for the period in your schedule.

there is no way they can make you give up future rights.

any charges other than that can still be claimed back, though now with the OFT test case you have to wait.
