  • Congratulations! I'm so glad you've decided to go ahead. :T :j :j

I thought I show you a picture of my baby boy. When I became pregnant with him, me and DH did agonise for a while about whether to go ahead with the pregnancy. Every day i'm thankful that we did go ahead. I can't imagine life without my little angel and I love him so much.

    I'm so pleased for you!!!

    And that's a gorgeous piccie Pink_butterfly!

As for not knowing a thing about babies.....with children there's always tonnes of things that crop up that you aren't sure how to deal with, no matter how old they are!! It's just called being a parent, and I am sure you'll be great at it!

    Hello All,

Thank you for your replies. Just to clarify on a few questions. Although neither of us are candidartes for "Mother or Father Earth" we thought we may have 1 in 2 or 3 year's time. The only thing we thought was that we'd always find an excuse not be do it (either financial, ages, change in life style).
It's still very early days (5 to 6 weeks)

if you wait til you are ready, then you'll never have children at all! they're so worth it... although must say that i am sitting upstairs on my bed after having balzing row with DH as want to kill him currently all brought on with stress etc.... but its still worth it (DH in the spare room tonight... oh we dont hae one of those... oh well, he's not in with me!)

    Congratulations! :D

This is a scary time in your life, but I'm absolutely sure you will be fine. For what it's worth, I think you've definitely made the right decision, and you won't regret it.

Oh congratulations..I was SO hoping you would say that! What a great decision...you won't regret it! (Well, maybe just a teensie bit when you find his/her school packed lunch in a discarded sports bag in the bottom of the wardrobe after six weeks)

I promise you, you will take one look at this baby, as you feel the weight of them in your arms after carrying it all out in front for nine months, and fall totally madly in love. Everything will come naturally..and you will suddenly feel like you know the reason for everything :)

You'll worry more about wars, and global warming, and take a strange interest in the education system. You'll also laugh till your sides split and cry over things you used to be ambivilent about.

And when you are sitting at Christmas and the carols are playing softly, and it's all muffled with snow outside and you have your baby looking up at you....remember these sayings..

“A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for”

“A two-year old is kind of like having a blender... but you don't have a top for it.”

    and finally...

"Kids are like farts. You can just about tolerate your own" !!

So pleased you have made a decision which feels right. That doesn't mean it's not going to be scary and strange (I still feel scared and strange, 5 months after finding out I was accidentally pregnant!) but give yourself time and space and I'm sure you'll sail through. I'm amazed how many people have no experience of babies but magically become great parents when their own come along - although you probably don't feel it now, hormones are wonderful things, so trust them!

I was in exactly the same position when I'd just turned 19. Found out I was pregnant, totally unplanned, not in a great financial state. That baby is now 2 yrs old and she's the best thing we've ever done... in fact she's now got a little sister (also unplanned). We weren't even planning to have children but you both ar ein a much better position than we were and we don't regret a thing. Having children is one of the most special things you can ever do and if you were planning on trying in a year or so then how would you feel having a termination for this one and something going wrong meaning you couldn't ever have children? Don't mean to sound morbid but this COULD be your only chance to have a child... and if that's the case how would you feel if you were to get rid of it?
