Have the banks got 8 weeks to reply?!!!

I've waited almost the 56 days which they say they have according to the Financial Standard Authorities. This will be up by 7th June.
However they have assured me (If that means anything) that they will have the settlement offer to me within this time. They have also said they will refund the extra charges I have accrued since the start of my claim.
Sounds Good, We'll See!!!!!NATWEST Amount Claimed £2860 Amount Received £2860
CLYDESDALE FINANCIAL SERVICES Amount Claimed £85.00 Amount Received £42.500 -
I've sent the barclays and abbey letters asking for my charges to be refund within 14 days or i'd take them to the small claim court. They've both now replied to me saying "Sorry your unhappy with you service blah blah blah.... we won't be able to reply to you with your time frame, you'll get a reply within 40 days".
Should I go ahead with the small claim court, send them another letter or wait it out??0 -
I`m at the point of taking Natwest to court for just over £4,000 but now they have sent a letter saying they are currently considering my claim and this will be answered in 6 - 7 weeks ! Carry on with court or not ?0

If someone was asking you to pay back 4 grand would you pay up straight away or would you try to delay the event for as long as possible?
It's a delaying tactic. If you've given them 14 days, then give them 14 days and no longer. If you threaten to do something... do it or you will come across as a wavering claimant who may fall by the wayside if put under pressure.
Yes! That's how the banks think.Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.0 -
My partner got the following letter today:
Dear Ms XXXX,
Thank you for your recent letter regarding the fees applied to your account.
We are currently considering your claim. Given the work involved in assessing your claim we anticipate that we will be in a position to respond within 6-7 weeks, but will endeavour to do so sooner if we are able to.
Is this a standard letter, and does she have to wait 6-7 weeks before taking the claim further?0 -
Did you partner state 14 days in her letter?
If she did then why would she wait another 6-7 weeks to be told no?
It's not as if the bank has to save up to pay her.Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.0 -

Cheers Kurt. Yes, she gave them 14 days. I guess she'll be taking them to court in a couple days then!0

You do what ever you told them you would do.
If you don't follow what you've stated how can you expect them to?Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.0 -
