£5 back shopping at local shops with AMEX

Have hit a minor snag with the freebies.....
I have an AMEX platinum cashback card, and also an MBNA United Airlines AMEX. Mrs MikeTaff has supplementary cards on both these accounts.
So we thought we could get 4 x £5 in all the shops.
The platinum cashback card was no problem, as the card numbers are slightly different.
However, the MBNA issued cards have the exact same number, and this means that the cashback has only worked once on the account.
So we can only get 3 x £5 at each shop. Still, nevermind, we've still racked up the money!!!!
managed to find 2 Co-ops on the list nearby (couldn't find any others - how random!!!!) and now have £30 of free groceries!!!
And used the GAP foursquare offer to get 3 x £10 off today.0 -
I was giving up with this promotion after local garage and pub were on list/map, garage didn't show up any £5 credit and the other one refused to accept Amex! Was embarrassing in the pub as the landlady got quite loud about it (I need to grow a thicker skin to be a hardcore MSE'r!), saying Amex hadn't told her anything about it. Glad I found this thread. Called Amex and they promised to credit the £5's. Amex told me the business would have to already signed up for the promotion to be on the list. After reading what you are all getting up to, looks like I should go out and have a bit of a shopping spree"The things you take for granted somebody else is praying for." - Morgan Freeman0

Brewer Street
Wok 2 Walk, about £5.20 for a meal
Snog, frozen yogurt
Splash hair cut for £9 (haven't used them myself, not yet anyway)
Original Soho Bookshop
Rupert Street Supermarket, minimum spend £5, though when my partner went they suddenly decided to charge 50p surcharge, grumpy git, haha.
Crompton Street
Hotel Chocolate (also 10% off with Priority moments if you're on o2) They let me split my bill to pay with 2 cards, no problem.
Patisserie Valerie
Various bars and 'specialist' shops around there too, though haven't tried any, so don't know about minimum spends etc.
Shaftesbury Avenue
You've got forbidden planet, no minimum spend, no card fee, and Konditor & Cook at the Curzon Soho.
Closer to Holborn you've got Model Zone, they will let you split you payment. Into Holborn there's Runnersneed, couldn't find anything to buy there. Various food places around there too, my old dutch pancake house, it's a wrap and pod food if i remember correctly, not tried them yet though.
If you fancy a trip our to East Dulwich can give you a list of places I've used there.
Thanks this is very useful for my upcoming trip to London.0 -
Used my & hubby's card for four different places today a restaurant near us which I've been wanting to go to for ages and the others in some shops not far from us. Got an email straight after paying saying that we would get the five pound credit soon. 😊
Still got a huge list of places left to go through. If anyone wants me to post it let me know most of the places are around East London.0 -
Does anyone happen to have a list of places around Euston Road near Euston Station / Kings Cross Station? None near me up in The North but I'm passing through London in a couple of weeks so want to take full advantage!0

Just use the map and change location to "kings cross, united kingdom". Loads on Caledonian Road for example0 -

Ah that ruins that idea then. I'm there on 1st December.0 -
If you have the Foursquare app then you check into the shop(i.e. press 'check in' on the app), then 'unlock' the Amex deal. I've done this at Harvey Nichols (£25), Gap (£10) and a couple of local shops (£5). The issue is that there are a lot of shops on the 'Shop Small' list that aren't appearing on the Foursquare app so I'm not sure if I'll get the refund. Seems like no-one else knows either...
Hooked on this deal;;be lost when it ends, I never shop, wife does it all, but not this, she won,t haggle.
Hit 2 Indian takeaways last night, both on the list, confirmed prior both took amex.BUT, when I went,to First , he said MINMUM spend £10 per card, as it costs him more . I told him it did not. 3.5% per deal. offered to pay his commission, he refused;; I Didn,t argue,I refused, said he,d lost £18 deal, went to second. 200 yards away, no trouble, 3 x £5, 95 curries,no rice to takeaway and freeze. He was curious at first, but when I explained it to him, he was fine.
Not many traders know the deal is on, making you feel like a card shark, would myself I suppose.
