We waited a long time for local authority searches over 3 weeks. Bt we finally exchanged yesterday it will happen soon hopefully x
  • I'm really worried. Solicitors told me searches had been requested like 10days ago. I was getting vague responses to questions for solicitor so I rang LA who tell me no searches have been requested!!!! Now solicitors are avoiding me!

You've totally lost me on this one. By LA do you mean letting agent, if so why are they involved in a house purchase? If you mean estate agent, then I don't think they get involved with the searches at all. Enquiries will be sent to the vendor's solicitors and searches are performed using search services.
Note: Unless otherwise stated, my property related posts refer to England & Wales. Please make sure you state if you are discussing Scotland or elsewhere as laws differ.

    Local authority....

Highlights the problem of too many TLAs (2 and 3) on this forum though. My particular pet hates are the DH, DS, etc. (if it wasn't an acronym, would you REALLY use the word 'dear'... I mean... REALLY???).

Ah, that makes a lot more sense. DH etc had always confused me too - thanks for the explaination there.

Spoke to our Solicitors today and the Searches have been done and i believe everything is as it should be with that.

There seems to be a bit of confusion regards the 'service' charges if any regards the Garage area and access road to them - he described them as "Private" but is contacting the Vendors Solicitors to establish if they pay anything towards the upkeep ( i doubt it as the Garages and area is in need of work! ie roof and weeds/general Maintenance)

I was told to ring again tomorrow in order to make an appointment to see our Solicitor in person.

I'm not sure whether we are very close or not to our proposed date though! will hopefully find out more tomorrow.

Anyone feel free to tell me what the visit to the Solicitor is all about, thanks.
