Not a chance ill relax til we get those keys. My solicitor doesn't seem quite on the ball either, but I've given him a gentle kick!!
Our sellers purchase is all ready. The people they are buying from are moving into rented. Problem is how long it took their solicitors to send draft contract etc to our solicitors!!!
Hoping the searches come back quickly and any issues are addressed in a timely manner!

Hi Redapple, time frames are different for different counties but our searches went in on the 17th October and they are all back except 1. So they can be quick.

I am also waiting (hoping) that the tenants move out! Its the biggest risk.

Good news, say it quietly but the tenants are ear-marked to move out on the 14th ;)

We were hoping to complete on the 24/11 but I think this may be a tad optimistic. We are away for a week the week after.

Offer was accepted on 25/10. Got mortgage offer today but they have requested we get a damp and timber report done so we waiting for the results of this before we instruct a full survey.

Auction is totally different because you exchange on the day of the auction - no need to wait for searches, building standards etc after the auction as you can't do anything whatever they come back with.
Auctions and auction categories vary - I certainly didn't exchange on the day of the auction. I would never have left myself open to that risk. If I had failed to complete, all I would have lost was the deposit paid on day of auction.
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.

We are making progress although not heard from the solicitors yet just getting everything sorted our end. Booked our damp survey for Thursday then we can book our buildings survey once we have the (hopefully good!) results.

Hopefully the solicitors are getting on with things behind the scenes although it's only been since Wednesday so can't moan.

I'm told I should expect a decision on my mortgage by 7 November so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. No news from the conveyancers but hoping they've received draft contracts so they can get on with the searches. I found a really good guide here telling me what has to be done. It doesn't seem a lot..........! http://www.theadvisory.co.uk/conveyancing-2.php

    Hi All,

I am going to jump on this thread, we are first time buyers offer was accepted 25th August, mortgage was accepted quickly and searches were all back by Mid september. We were due to exchange 6th october bt the local authority seaches didnt come back till 23rd October. Then was meant to exchange and complete on the same day 31st October then 3 days prior our vendor decided he didnt have enough time to move nor the time off work. Very frustrating- anyways their solicitors are shocking still waiting to exchange was meant to be today but suprise suprise ran out of time our completion date is 20th November which has been agreed by both parties. I am desperate to just exchange I need some peace of mind as I feel like my brain is going to explode.....:(

Cant see you making it by the 20th unless you meant Oct 20th 2013 ;)

Sounds like you are nearly there, just need a little luck!

We're hoping to hear back from the solicitors tomorrow.

One question I have for everyone chasing a November move-in date. What are you doing with your current homes? i.e. for those currently renting, when are you (have you) handing (handed) your notice in?
