parking fine in Aldi carpark by private NPE group!!!

Hi everyone
new on here and in need of help and advice, was on my 2nd ever Aldi shop (trying to reduce our outgoing bills since having a baby) got on ok but did find it odd i had to enter our car reg details on a screen at check-out but shop worker said it was because people park there who are not customers and block the carpark up which is fair enough, I was using my husbands estate company car that day and its quite big, only 3 spaces left near the shop where I usually park were all too small as the other drivers had nicely parked over the line so couldnt squeeze in, a few spaces at the back empty so i parked there out of the way, got back 20 mins later to my car and had a parking fine by NFE company!! £60 if I pay in 14 days £100 if not!! i was mortified just been shopping as a honest customer to aldi and put my car details in as requested and got stung! there is a pub at the other end of the car park and the company work on behalf of them, went to aldi entrance to see a sign anywhere and there was a crappy sodden wet cardboard box un-taped and in marker pen it said Aldi customers to not park on blue lines!!! !!!!!! how bloody stupid and unprofessional, I was qued on the road to get into the car park that day as a disabled driver wanted to one close spot near the door so blocked the entrance for ages, as my car's rear end was still on the main road i squeezed past him and missed the sign!, have seen small high fine notices but as the worker explained why we needed the car reg to me (as the time before i took my husbands car and didnt know the reg plate so he kindly went and got it for me so this is why I know this)

its a company car so if i dont pay will they get hassled or letters sent to them? they are pretty good with things like this but dont want to take advantage of them but feel very cheated by the supermarket and think they should have a duty of care to us honest customers, also should there not be tarmac pub car parking only letters in these spaces to make it clear, i would never park anywhere i shouldnt and have never got a ticket before :-(

thanks

If this is an AOS member under the BPA scheme, you will need to appeal giving your name and address (not your real signature as these are scam firms). Use a misspelling of your name as well so you can spot which letters are theirs in future!

Then if rejected by the PPC, take the appeal to POPLA if you are in Engand/Wales, read other threads here about that procedure which is a new independent appeals service. Then if POPLA reject your appeal go back to the usual ignore mode but at least you are safe in knowledge that no letters will go to your employer or car lease co.

And complain in writing to the retailer as it's simply not on that they allow their paying customers to suffer this harassment for daring to shop there. Tell them that you will soon be an ex-customer at this rate and will certainly think twice before returning. COMPLAIN.

Who is the PPC, you have not made it clear and called them NPE and NFE?!

What does that stand for and can you find them on this list?

If its right to ask on this public forum where did this occur as your description of it parallels my local Aldi!

We need to know who ticketed you Sarah, and what part of the country you are in eg England, Wales etc
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

From the description given(new blue lines over white ones, PH opposite an Aldi(other half of parking area 'managed' by Parkingeye for Aldi)newly managed) its in Norfolk and the culprit is NPC.

    Edited: For NPC read NPE.

  • My Girlfriend came home and told me exactly the same thing as sarah-33.
Aldi car park on Plumstead Road Norwich. PCN is issued by NPE (norfolk parking enforcement).
I intend on appealing the notice but a bit apprehensive about just ignoring it.
The NPE are listed on the AOS website, approved for ticketing, self ticketing and debt recovery.

    Any advice would be welcome!

The AOS is run by the BPA, a cosy little club for private parking companies, run by private parking companies, FOR private parking companies. Membership means nothing.

Under civil law, these tickets are unenforceable for a number of reasons, one being contractual penalties, and the other being that the private parking company needs to effectively own the land in order to be able to form a contract in the fisrt place.

No amount of AOS membership will get them over those two hurdles. That's why 'ignore' is a tried and trusted piece of advice.

Appeal if you like, with the advent of POPLA a lot of these companies are suddenly backing down when it comes to appeals, but for God's sake don't even think of paying it.

Why? Your appeal will fail - this isn't a real appeal process, it's simply a thing that the scammers use to give the appearance of fairness.

but a bit apprehensive about just ignoring it.

Why? If I read you a letter saying I want £80 for my advice, are you simply going to pay me? What do you think I can do if you ignore my letter?

Why are you apprehensive - you've received a letter with no force behind it - no debt collectors will call at your home, your credit rating will be unaffected, nothing will happen.

The NPE are listed on the AOS website, approved for ticketing, self ticketing and debt recovery.

    Means less than nothing
    Any advice would be welcome!

Ignore, ignore and then ignore again.

Better to spend your energy complaining to the retailer rather than the scammers themselves, I mean would you complain to the nigerian king about the money that is missing out of your account for him to deposit millions there, or your bank ?

  • Well thanks for the advice, and very quick responses.

Must admit they all seem very one sided so I think I will take my chances with the "ignore it" approach.

Those rodents nearly had me convinced.
    Thanks again!
