I`ve sent my DPA letter to the London address instead of Milton Keynes with my £10 fee. Will they forward it or claim they never recieved it please help.

They should forward it to the correct department. If you didnt send it recorded delivery you can find out if the postal order was cashed by ringing or writing to the post office. I found this info on the CAG forum about it.

If You Want To Check If A Postal Order Has Been Cashed, All You Need To Do Is Phone 01246542254. The Address If You Would Rather Write, Is

    Postal Order Sector
    Post Office Ltd
    1 Future Walk
    West Bars
    Chesterfield
    S49 1pf

They can tell you immediately on the phone if you have the receipt apparently. I'd advise to send all your letters recorded delivery from now on and you can check their receipt online.
    Hope that helps :)

    Bank - Natwest
    Claimed - £2530.77 with interest.
    Refunded - £2400

    Bank - HSBC
    Claimed - £5242.40 with interest.
    Refunded - £3500

    Bank - Monument
    Claimed - £782.36
Refunded - Nil - 5 days left before I ask for court to enter judgment.

HSBC was easy. No reply to the first letter, but after 2nd letter sent threatening court action, they paid up swiftly, although they wouldnt entertain the idea of paying interest as well! As it was money that I never expected to see again, I took it.

NatWest - They were different. First off, I made the mistake of sending my claim letters to the same department that supplied my statements. First letter ignored, second letter still nothing, so I did a bit more research on this site and realised that I needed to send the claim letters to the head office in London. I typed another letter, explaining the situation, based around the template letters and also explained that I had sent them 2 letters previously, but to their office in Scotland. I gave them 7 days to reply otherwise I would be off to the local court to get my refund. They replied within the 7 days and by the end of the second week had offered me £2400. A very happy chappy, I took it! Moral of this story is - do not send your letters to Edinburgh office, but to the head office in London.

Monument - This lot have just completely ignored all the letters that I have written to them. So I did the decent thing and took out court action against them. They acknowledged the claim and so it gave them 28 days to get a defence together. On 11/2/07 their time is up, and I will ring to claim my charges back - WITH INTEREST - LOL.

To anyone out there still not sure about claiming charges back - Go for it, if I can do it anyone can, and with all the help on this site it makes it a very simple process. Tell your friends, work mates, and relatives - I have.

A big thankyou to Martin and all those that have guided me in this process.

hi, is there any chance you could give me the address for natwest in london?

I want to claim back my bank charges from the Alliance and Leicester. Is the Bootle address the one I use? and which department should I be addressing my letter too?

    Thanks

P.S. Can I claim for a failed cheque which they charged £29.50 and a Paid Item Charge (whatever that is??!!!) £25.00 and failed standing order charge £34.00?

HI, Use the DPA address for the Subject Access Request, the following thread is useful as a guide to reclaiming bank charges, and has the address you need.

and have a look in here for people who have had accounts closed should give you an idea about your bank.

    Hi all,

I'm about to fill out a claim with "Money Claim Online" against HSBC, and it's asking me for the "Service Address" (for sending documents and payments).

Does anyone know which address I should use? I've been using 8 Canada Square, London, E14 5HQ for everything else.

    Thanks
