Has your bank closed your account?

After a question asked by user MarkKellie about which banks close your account after you have made a claim for the return of unfair bank charges I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for users to report if this has happened to them and which bank it is.
All that is required is to say which bank it is along with what accounts they closed as another concern users have is if their loan account will be closed or even their mortgage account.
Please don't ask questions on this thread but post them here and your Success Story please post here

Has anyone claimed against HSBC Credit Card whilst still having an overdraft on their current account. What do they do if you puruse them for repayment on the CC, do they get funny about the OD?Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

It seems the Nationwide may close your account.

I have!
Co-Op bank charged me £39 for going 3p overdrawn, I complained in branch, the manager agreed to refund the charge but took my card off me, cut it up and closed my account immediately.

£39 for going 3p overdrawn, thats pointless, charging you the £39 would make your situation worse not betterNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

I was told it was 'policy' on basic accounts that if they refund charges, they can get to close your account, but only on their basic account range, which concerns me as it seems like the almost 'pick' on people they can't make mre money out of by premium account ranges.£2 Coin Savers Club (Christmas)- £86£1 Jar (Christmas)- £29Christmas Vouchers Saved: £1450

Myself and my partner have claimed over £8k in charges, both from Halifax and neither of us have been asked to close our accounts...so far?!
However, my sister claimed about £2k back from HSBC and all was fine until about 2 months later and they got a letter advising them that they had 28 days to make alternative banking arrangments. Also, when she went into a branch to withdraw her savings they wouldn't let her have it all without paying off her overdraft too. She would have had to pay it off anyway obviously as the account was being closed but she said they were very rude with her.PMA - Positive Mental Attitude

I was warned in the first letter I got off Nationwide that if I insisted on having charges repaid then I could expect to have to find alternative banking..... so I didn't bother in the end as it was only £60.PMA - Positive Mental Attitude

From my days the other side of the counter from the public the right to set -off a credit balance against a debit one was well known. I cannot access Hsbc's but it is included in another large bank's, and I certainly do not believe that on such matters HSBC would have inderior rights. I conclude that the bank is right in its stance. However there is no excuse for rudeness to anyone, whatever their status is. It's totally unprofessional.0 -
