I sent mine by recorded delivery to my branch also. It all seemed to go quite smoothly.

When sending a letter to your bank,do you send it to your own branch or to the bank's head office?

Either/or. If you send the letter to the branch they will only forward this on for you.

    Good luck

I'm at stage 2 & 3 with Halifax, MBNA, GM, (£2.5K including interest) and getting ready for Goldfish. Before I post the letters(recorded delivery) I phone up their customer services first and get the fax number. Then I fax my letters and say on the letter at bottom that it has been faxed and then post it. Makes it harder for them to loose and they get it quicker, could also be useful in court. Also if the bank says they have not recieved your letter check to see if they have banked your £10 cheque if they have this proves that they have had your letter. ;)

I have not sent recorded which now worries me .I am the pre-court stage
I have hand delivered to Branch. So I know they got them £ 10 was cashed and statements received But then nothing! Two letters plus list of charges ignored( Nat west) They do not have very 'open access' Most are call- centre numbers. Another site shows quite complex and in depth claims examples Martin's looks fairly simple to follow Is there any difference and anyone had experience of "all the way"
  • I am ready to send my letter asking the bank to return my charges plus interest. What address do I send this to? Do I send it to my local branch or is there a national address?

    My bank is HSBC.

    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi Bryan,

You can post to either/or. Your branch will only forward this on to the main address for you.

    Registered address:

    HSBC BANK PLC
    8 CANADA SQUARE
    LONDON
    E14 5HQ

    Good luck with everything

    Hi Guys,
I'm with First Direct which is part of HSBC. I want to write the data protection letter to get the charge detail for the last 6 years. Do I write to the HSBC address? There is no address listed for First Direct.

    Thank you

2 years worth of statments are available online so if your claiming period is 2 years or less you wont need to. Otherwise you write it to the Data Protection officer I suppose at First Direct Leeds
  • Hi everyone...just a quick question, I had a Sainsbury Bank Credit Card, I have written my first letter, asking for Bank statements. now..... as Sainsbury's Bank is under the umbrella of The Royal Bank Scotland.....do you send the letter to the Royal Bank of Scotland 's address given on this web site..I.E..Halifax, West Yorkshire, or is there a 'Sainsbury's address'...(maybe the one on the Bank Statement?) does that make sense.?.....many thanks.....Lilly May
