    Hi

Can I claim back unfair foreign bank charges?
Lloyds TSB have a leaflet titled international payments.
I received a large amount euro cheque and Lloyds TSB could not tell me how much the spanish bank would charge to process it until the deed was done and the charge is excessive. £150 for spanish bank charge and TSB charged me £60 as well.
Lloyds TSB's leaflet and help desk say it MAY be necessary to pay a foreign bank charge, this will vary depending on the country of payment origin.
I took the cheque into TSB and was charged £210.00

    Any help would be appreciated

    Dave

Short answer is no. Lloyds have nothing to do with the Spanish end and perhaps you should have enquired further as to the cost from them as it is probably worked on a percentage basis.

Question: has anyone had recent dealings with A&L? They seem to be taking quite a heavy line...quite scary really! Do they carry through the threats of taking it to court??? I have set up parachute account so am quite happy if they want to close the account AFTER I get the money..
    Thanks.

    Hi Chazp
Yes I have just had success today with claiming £1334 for my son. They hang on til the last minute, but just stick with it and follow the site's advice, then you can't go wrong.... Good luck!

    Hi
I don't think you need to do anything now. From my recent experience you should just wait. The chances are that Halifax will settle before they need to send in their defence. If, however, they do go past the 28 days and actually put in a defence, then the Court will send you correspondence telling you how to proceed.
    Good luck and don't worry!
