Reclaim Unfair Bank Charges Discussion Area

Hi I just want to say a big thanks to this site for all I have learnt.
I'm in middle of reclaiming £3000 of bank charges but am confused how to go about credit card charges - id it possible to have a set of template letters for them as the statement request one that I'm trying to use doesn't really fit for credit cards - really sorry if this is covered somewhere else but have spent ages looking

Hi Martin and thanks for all the help so far.Can we claim back any penalty charges from mortgage companies and solicitors who are acting for banks I have a debt management with the cccs and have missed a few payments and get charged £20.00 a month and 20.00 for the missed payment

Barclaycard sent 3 years statements today, and said the rest will follow in 6 weeks. They said the information commisioner has sanctioned this.

I recieved letter saying that the charges will be paid into account within 14days, can anyone tell me if they did get it within that time as theres only 3 days to go, thanks

jusr recieved a letter from the courts service this morning informing me that halifax intend to defend all of this claim, is this usual?

the letter from the bank reads as follows !!!!!!

i refer to your recent request for copies of your statements on your account to enable you to reconcile your bank charges. Please find enclosed details of charges going back to the date you opened your account, or the first september 2001 whichever date is most recent if there is no charges for a certain period then charging details will not be included.

You may now wish to proceed with your claim for reimbursements of charges but if you feel you need further statements this will take longer to access the archives. blah blah blah.
So what do you guys think claim the lot or just decifer which ones i should claim for.

This is exactly what happened to me and seems to be quite usual. Don't worry it is just another delaying tactic. It gives them 28 days to file a defence from the Date of Service. Read the Help Notes on MCOL, these explain everything. Stick with it and good luck!

Can anyone tell me of any experiences with the following banks.- I am trying to find out who makes it difficult and if any just pay up.

Capital One


Have sent all my first letters out - how long can I expect to wait till they reply.

Have had a list of charges from Capital One. So next letter gone out. How long now?
