  • I am in a bit of a conundrum. I have asked my bank (Natwest) for my charges back. I have sent the first letter outlining that I wish to claim back £900 from the last six years. They have not given me a satisfactory reply, so I need to send off the second letter for the charges before making the online court claim.
Since I have done this, I have also had an offer accepted on a house, whereby I need to take out a £10,000 loan - from the bank. I can't get credit elsewhere due to poor credit history and so this is my only option. If i continue to make a claim against the bank will they be able to make my life a misery in terms of slapping on extra interest and charges to the loan? Due you feel I have a right to claim this money back when they are doing me a favour in loaning me the money for the house deposit? Has anybody out there had a similar experience?
  • Hi

Can I claim back unfair foreign bank charges?
Lloyds TSB have a leaflet titled international payments.
I received a large amount euro cheque and Lloyds TSB could not tell me how much the spanish bank would charge to process it until the deed was done and the charge is excessive. £150 for spanish bank charge and TSB charged me £60 as well.
Lloyds TSB's leaflet and help desk say it MAY be necessary to pay a foreign bank charge, this will vary depending on the country of payment origin.
I took the cheque into TSB and was charged £210.00

    Any help would be appreciated

I did claim against RBOS and got paid with interest even though I didn't ask for it. Be careful though, after they refunded the charges they waited two weeks and took most of it back and paid it off my personal loan. They never told me they were going to do it. They said they had refunded the charges to 'enable me to meet my laibilities to the bank.' I wasn't happy especially as they did it the day my mortgage went out (or didn't in this case.) due to lack of funds. No win situation!

can you claim for back charges on a current account, I have had a letter back from the bank saying this is just for credit cards accounts only?
  • hiya, i know this is gonna sound pretty stupid but i have done the moneyclaim online for halifax bank, which was filed on the 23rd april, i then got a letter of awknowledgement , attached was a letter which at the top said 'response pack' and acknowledgement of service, saying that halifax were going to defend the claim. what do i do now? what is the response pack all about because there is an address 'to which documents about this claim should be sent'? and on the website what is the bit about starting judgement?
    any help would be appreciated
    thanks x
  • is the letter just showing me what was sent to halifax?
