Went to check for another reply and my online banking has been locked, I've passed all security checks but they just keep telling me can't help need to go into branch, i totally rely on online bank for transfers n everything, and they know that, seems to me they palying a 'we'll show you' game!! Surly they can't do this, I'm not overdrawn at all and haven't been for months now but that's because I'm on there 3 or 4 times a day checking n transferring etc, bit scared about going to branch n got to take 2 small children with me so concentration will not be at its best, any ideas anyone?
This is why its advised to open a parachute account I'm afraid. They will try and harrass you into submission, dont play the game. Personally I would find a babysitter for an hour and go in and demand to see the manager then play hell. A complaint to the Financial Ombudsman is in order if they dont unfreeze your account, they have no grounds for doing this. A customer is entitled to make a complaint.
Alternatively open another account somewhere else. Most banks and the Post Office offer basic bank account that you can operate direct debits and standing orders from or arrange an alternative method of paying bills for now such as using Paypoint. Best to let your bill companies know what is going on and that delay of payment is not your fault. You shouldnt have to and it means more work but there is always a way around what theyre doing.0 -

I'm hoping some one can answer this Q for me.
I am just about to send my letter asking for statements, to Barclaycard. I defaulted on my account & it was passed to a collection company.
Will the charges fees from the collection company be included on the information from B'Card, or do I have to request it seperately from the collection company themselves?
Thanks
Hi Helmbroken,
i am in a similar situation to yourself. Barclaycard passed on my account to a third party, but i wrote to Barclaycard requesting statement letters. I only sent my letter last week requesting my statements. I would just write to Barclaycard...0 -
Hi, don't know if anybody can help me!!! I had an account with RBS with a £2,000 overdraft limit and currently still owe this money to them. I have recently set up a Debt management Plan with (CCCS) and this debt to RBS is one of the many debtors that I owe to. However, I have noted from my Bank Statements that RBS have charged me £724.00 in unfair charges and wondered if I could reclaim these charges back so that my debt to RBS would be reduced by this amount, it would just mean that my debt to RBS would be paid all the quicker. Any help would be much appreciated, Many thanks, Gayle.x0

Thanks for that Twinkly, 3 times I've rang them and same answer given incorrect details, now told me i need to take photo id to branch to unlock, I'm soooooo wound up I think now would be a very good time to get myself down there, I have another account but like u say takes time to transfer all dd's etc, and of course my most up to date list is on my on line bank, so BIG WARNING to all others make sure you have complete update of all dd and standing orders and know exactly whats is there to the penny before you upset your bank, oh by the way mine is HSBC, I'm off to play hell now and make loads of phone calls to creditors!! wish me luck.:mad:0

You can claim them bank and as you say any monies reclaimed are likely to go towards the debt, have a read of this thread and good luck.

Hiya dont know if anyone is seeing this. I've posted a couple of questions but I cant find them or any answers to them I hope I'm doing it right this time.
Here goes.
Barclays have sent a defence my claim and its been transfered to my local county cout ( allocation questionnaire has been dispensed with) However they are asking court to strike out my claim because I omitted my account details on the top of my moneyonline claim details. They've accused me of abusing court process. Can I at this late stage send my bank details etc to the court and if I don't do it within the 14 day deadline will I lose the case?0 -
I seem to have started off quite well with Abbey. I sent of the £10 cheque and request for my statements. I received the first years worth within 14 days and the remaining five years a week or so later. All were clear and all seemed well. I calculated £2915.13 inc interest and sent off the first letter. Got the standard reply of "we are sorry to hear you have a complaint we are looking into it". Sent next letter, no response. Filled out MCOL, they acknowledged quite quickly and in the mean time got a "we are still looking into your complaint" letter. Then received a letter stating they are going to defend.
Don't know what happens next ?
I have incurred another £195 of charges since claiming. I have written a letter today suggesting that they settle these charges as well as the court ones to save us all time and money. Should I send it or wait and see what happens at court?
Any ideas?0 -

Oh dear I did not put sort code or account number when I did my claim, I just used Martins template. My claim has been acknowledged should I change it and try and add these details?0 -

Send the letter. It will not do you any harm and makes it clear you do not accept these charges. It may be they can then be taken into consideration when/if it gets to court.:beer:0 -

I might be in the same boat. Suggest you call the court and ask advice from the clerk of courts. I dont believe you will get it thrown out but best to check. If the claim is large it may be worth seeking legal advice as you dont want to get it wrong at this stage. A quick call should answer the question. Good luck and keep us posted.0
