I started court proceedings as soon as they replied to my first letter asking for return of unfair charges, ignoring my request and stating they would be looking into my complaint. I am pleased I did because on the due date 2nd April, when they promised a reply, they sent a further letter saying they had to collate matters and would not be able to reply until 5th May.0 -
I ditched Natwest precisely because they were charging me so much in late charges etc. Are they still obliged to do all of this even if I no longer bank with them?
We've been serially crap with bouncing cheques for well over a decade - be great if there was gold in them there hills!
:j
Please can someone tell me exactly what date I can legally start my claim from?
Thanks!0 -
Here's a new one! My friend wrote asking for her statements a couple of months ago. First of all, they sent statements from a charge-free account. Then, today she received a recorded delivery letter telling her if she wants the statemnts she has to go into the City Centre branch with ID to pick them up herself! Cheek! lol0

I have sent two letters to Barclays claiming £2,448.00 (without calculating interest) they have replied offering me a goodwill guesture of £1,800 which I refused they sent another letter saying £1,800.00 is their final offer. What now do I take Court proceedings? I phoned them to see if I could get some more but they said it was the final offer and I could go ahead and take them to Court if thats the way I felt.0

I would do, as the second letter states you "have not received a satisfactory response", which is correct. They've taken their time in sending their reply, but it's all just delay tactics, so I'd continue to follow procedures and send your second letter.
Thanks for the advice, i will send my second letter off in the morning.0 -

Personally that just would rev me up..I'd threaten to take them to court (with interest!). Its your money not theirs! BUT if your curcumstances are stressful eg. if you're in real trouble with finances/illness whatever... Then its your discernment whether or not it's worth the stress. So you could take the money and run vowing never to let them get their unlawful hands on your money again.

Hi, I am new to here but thought it the best place for help on reclaiming my bank charges. I have a basic Halifax account, just a cash card, no overdraft etc.... I am always being charged for failed direct debits at 39 pounds a time. Recently charged that for a 5 pound direct debit. I cannot go overdrawn unless its the bank that wants the money and then I do because they take the money they want. Am I right in claiming all of these charges back. It is only these charges that I get for failed dd's but there has been quite a few in the past 6 years. Thank you in advance.0
