    Hello,

New to the forum and first time poster!

I took out a 2 year contract with Vodaphone in July - £46 a month with free texts, calls, 25mb of data and 10 free euro texts a day. I work in Europe around 10-15 days a month, so needed the european roaming and texts.

I have spoken to the staff at vodaphone here and abroad and I will soon be charged £3 a day for the same thing as I am already paying for! If I don't sign up to their new scheme, it will be 70p per MB of data and 9p a text. If I do sign up and pay £3 a day, I can use my inclusive allowance. Even 10 days abroad = £30!

I am beyond fuming and have 21 months left on my contract!

Now, my question is.....I have heard that if a contract is changed so significantly that it is no longer fit for purpose or the price increase will exceed 11% (Not sure about this figure, heard a rumour) then I can get out of the contract with no cost to me.....if this the case oh wise ones??

    Many thanks! ;)
  • I haven't even looked at the international side of it yet!!

I would doubt that they have different contracts for personal users but it is clause 11 that you are looking at part b where they advise that you may end this agreement by writing to us if:
    "we tell you that there will be an increase in the line rental (aside from a VAT increase) by more than the increase in the retail price index (worked out as a percentage) since the last line rental increase and you write to us before the increase applies;
"we change your charges in the UK which has the effect of increasing your total charges (based on your usage in any of the previous three months) by more than 10% and you write to us before the increase applies; or
"we change this agreement to your significant disadvantage including changing or withdrawing services and you write to us within one month of us telling you about the change. This does not apply if the change or withdrawal relates to services which you can cancel without us ending this agreement"

I would suggest that it is the latter element that you would have to argue your case against.

  • Thanks Mshaverin!

I popped into the airport shop today to ask and they claim it is only the passport deal that is going. My contract will stay the same unless I amend my deal at any point (which I will NOT be doing)! ;)

I still have my doubts as 2000 colleagues are all up in arms about it!
We get a good deal with Vodaphone at the airport, but time to start looking around I think.

    Thanks again for the advice!

So am I right in thinking to work out if it affects me by 10% or more, I need to look at my itemised bill, and work out how much extra I would have paid if I was on the higher prices?

I am confused by it all.
Debt free as of 7.20am on 31st December 2012.

    Wow. Feels great :j
  • with the news of inflation dropping from 2.5% to 2.2% wonders if vodafone will be so quick to revoke the increase, i think not!??

Yes, passport is being removed as of 1st November but your 25mb per day and 10 free euro texts will remain as they are part of your price plan. The £3 per day euro traveller is for if you want to use more than this when in Europe becuase it lets you take your whole price plan abroad ie all minutes, unlimited texts and data.

    Hello!

I've written a letter to Vodafone, citing their announced price increase as effective termination of a Vodafone contract with approximately 12 months remaining. 6 days after sending this letter to Vodafone, a text message was received from them, providing a PAC code.
Feel free to use my letter- just fill in the blanks or copy and paste. The letter is in .docx format so if you need it any other way, let me know. Obviously, I can't offer any guarantee that it will work for everyone, but I can't see why it shouldn't. All I ask is that if you use it, consider making a PayPal contribution to donate@ninjahedgehog.co.uk for my time.
There's no catches and no tricks- I'm simply sharing a letter which I wrote and used to end a Vodafone contract, mid-term because of the announced price increase.
Any problems, feel free to contact me.
Unfortunately, I'm not able to post links but you can find my letter on the my website, Ninja Hedgehog (see my profile, under "Contact Info").
  • Does anyone know if Vodafone are in breach of contract with the price rise if, like me, the deal was done by telephone and I have never had a copy of their "terms and conditions"/

    Sorry if I'm being a thicko,but I don't get it !

I've got an iPhone 4S contract till 03/14. The contract is £41 pm. 900mins unlimited text 750 data. I never go over my allowance but the last few bills have been between £46-£57 for out of bundle call charges and non inclusive numbers. So how does this effect me with regards to the increases next month? Have I got a case for compliant?

    Thanks

This is who I emailed tonight (cos I'm nice)

    vodafonedirectorsoffice@vodafone.com

    And also these 'directors'

    guy.laurence@vodafone.com

and a few directors I worked out from the 'fact sheet' (using same principle as guy laurence email) which is available in pdf form (here though I couldn't work out the gerard kleisterlee or the stephen pussey email.

    Also I emailed

webrelations@vodafone.com quoting WRT135 in the subject line. Posted and attached the letter from Ninja Hedgehog's site to all of these in case it gets lost in snail somehow.

Hope that helps someone :A. That manager from Glasgow patronizing me like I was a numpty really didn't help
