You mean people don't sit and read though the terms of their contact before they run off with their new shiny 500 quid gadget?
We seem to have a rather blase attitude towards contracts in this country, "oh its only a phone contract, whats the worst that can happen" then kick up a stink when clearly defined terms are put in to action.
But the networks are a bunch of shysters for doing it, this term had been in contracts for years.. yet no networks acted on it, I think either 3 or Orange dipped their toes in to the water, got away with doing it, nobody has tested the fairness of this terms in court, so every network has followed suit.
what is needed is all of those that complain about stuff like this, they chip in a few quid and get this before the courts, but really.. who can be bothered over a few pence increase.0 -
No, you're completely right and I'm wrong! There's absolutely nothing wrong in telling somebody one thing verbally, ie that the cost is fixed for a set time, and then hide a clause in the small print that states the opposite. Never mind thet their sales people are not even aware of this clause, or that Which? found their sales techniques misleading enough to launch the Fixed means fixed campaign and submit a complaint to Ofcom - they are obviously just as stupid as I am...You mean people don't sit and read though the terms of their contact before they run off with their new shiny 500 quid gadget?

From now on, I will stop having a life, and instead spend all my time reading t&c's, just to be on the safe side...I don't think I can hang on til Friday...0 -
Hi, does anyone on here know HOW Vodaphone are meant to let you know about these price increases?
My OH has been with them for years, and hasn't had anything that he can remember.
If he hasn't been given at least a months notice, do we have an arguing point?
I know we can write to them before 1st November if the increase will be more than 10%, but unless we know what the increase will be, we can't do that.
Thanks in advance.Anything I post on here is my own personal opinion, and quite likely not the view of my employer. My knowledge may not be up-to -the minute current, but I'll give you the best I can.0 -
Final straw! And I concur with stroptart - we haven't even had a month's notice, surely that cannot be fair?! (Although it would just mean they would delay the inevitable for a couple of days!).
I have been with Vodafone for around 12 years and never had a problem until recently, where along with everyone else, the customer service actually drove me to breaking point - I must admit though that in the end I did sort of win that fight.
I'm just glad that I have pre-cancelled my contract for March 2013 and therefore only have a couple of months to tolerate this money grabbing, time wasting, useless, ignorant, totally un-customer friendly company! NEVER again will I go to them and I cannot wait to see if they try and phone me with some BS to convince me to stay because I will quite literally laugh at them and put the phone down!
And irrespective of those people who started the comments on this thread, it is not fair and we have every right to complain! If we can claim back for mis-sold PPI then surely we can complain for mis-sold "fixed term" contracts when they're not "fixed term"?!0 -
They sent me a text. It contained a link to a web page. This indicated my monthly price has gone up a few pennies.*************************

Well what did you expect when Vodafone bought Cable & Wireless ? You customers have got to pay for it you know.
Fixed means fixed, all need to join this campaign - its down to consumers, Terminate the Rate was business & consumer led, no company will back us so its down to.us....SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

I'm cancelling with a year to run: the way I look at it is I am just paying for the phone and now I'm going sim only on another network so I can leave more easily next time. might try offcom then small claims - I think this is dodgy under the unfair contract term act/regs. I realise Vodafone don't care as they will get a fat wedge for nowt. As for their "increasing costs" those would be the same ones we are all facing, the only difference being we don't have anyone to fleece.0

Hey, I'm sick of always ending up lsogin out, It doesnt matter if you drop your tariff they will find a way to get money out of you in the end.
I got a text today (4th October), I thought they had to give a months notice.
I love the fact that they can upgrade you midway through a contract, but cannot downgrade you. I'll be buying out of my contract next month.0 -
Got the text message today. I've already told them I deny any change to my contract and that if this is unacceptable then they must cancel my contract.
Next step is to charge them £100 for the inconvenience and not return the phone until paid.
Then I got home only to find that RS Components have sent me a mystery invoice for buying some parts off their website last week, £5 that wasn't mentioned anywhere at the time. They've also been told to go to hell.
I also had a £15 invoice for 'gas tank rental' from Countrywide! Although I knew this was coming eventually, it's only quarterly.0
