MSE News: Vodafone to raise pay monthly prices

Why doesn't Martin help fund a class action against Vodafone to contest what is very probably an unfair contract term. If I had millions i'd happily pay a QC to take on Vodafone. They'd never let it get to court, the risk would be too great, and soon backtrack on the rises.0

Exactly how I feel, not been given any guidance vodafone are standing firm with their terms quoting section 7 but ofcom are contradictory with section 9.3?
Can anyone outline steps they have taken. I can't believe this thread is only on 2 pages?0 -

There's absolutely nothing wrong in telling somebody one thing verbally, ie that the cost is fixed for a set time, and then hide a clause in the small print that states the opposite. Never mind thet their sales people are not even aware of this clause, or that Which? found their sales techniques misleading enough to launch the Fixed means fixed campaign and submit a complaint to Ofcom - they are obviously just as stupid as I am...
From now on, I will stop having a life, and instead spend all my time reading t&c's, just to be on the safe side...
Indeed you should, because the sales person never told you that (and I am sure even though I was not there with you at the time) , trouble is a lot of whinging replies are from people just venting off, remember the thread where Orange increased their prices, yeah there was all the "I'm gonna do this, we're gonna do that" in the end NOTHING, get over it! 50-60p per month big deal, re budget if it is affecting you that much

Which contract term is this, then? Tariffs are not part of the contact, so what are you planning to contest?0 -
So can it clarified how much they can get away with increasing prices by?0

Dammit! 24 month £41pcm contract with vodafone started in July. Got the larger one as I wasn't sur ehow much I'd be using it. Stupidly overestimated now being charged an extra 95p pcm on top. Not feeling particularly happy with the price hike.
Does anyone know if vodafone would let me switch to a lower tariff or do I just put up and shut up? I have very little experience with this as it's my first phone contract in about 15 years (used work phone until recently).0 -
What are the implications for anyone signing up with Vodafone from today - is the increase already reflected in new contract pricing? There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Yes it is, only affects customers who joined before 7th September. No doubt those who escape the increase this year will be caught next year, they've had a price increase every year since 2010.

Well yes actually. I have already contacted them to advise the same. I had (unfortunately) been with vodafone for 2.5 months when I got the text - at least a problem a month so far and the worst decision I have made to change provider when I consider the deal I had been offered with orange. Anyway, that makes the increase more than 10% based on previous 3 months bills. My contract also does not state a minimum term but they are so far adamant that its £540 to go and that it is less than a 10% increase. If I had been with them a year then fine, but based on their arguments they can increase prices willy nilly every month and they are NOT on!!! Who agrees services and then allows an increase that they cant walk away from within 12 months?? Their customer service is sh1te! I've already had them taking money from my account without prior notification and their answer - try not once but twice to get me to UPGRADE my package to one that I dont want, need or will ever need!!! If someone has some success at getting out of their contract please let me know! I am currently deliberating letting them take me to court!!0 -
