I really would love to get out of my contract I have 10 months left and have just got this message today! What a joke I can't believe this is allowed?
  • I have just spoken to them as I have two phone contracts with them and I don't fancy it going up because all the bills seem to be going up at the moment and my wages are staying the same! Luckily it's going to be £12per year for both phones so I can cope but still annoying.

They have said to compensate Vodafone customers we MAY get more minutes. But then again, we may not....You would think that knowing this information was going out they would have decided if we were or not, think it could have been a way to get us off the phone!

It's just another blow from Vodafone, when I took out my contract with them originally I waited six months to be able to send a text as they sent me a batch of duff phones, eventually I was compensated with an Iphone 4s (for £21pm :D) but that was after treating the complaint like a full time job and spent hours and hours for weeks on the phone to their terrible complaints team.

I would say I would vote them to be the worst company out there, they hate customers and they hate complaints and they take MONTHS to deal with anything. Can't wait to leave them but it doesn't sound like any of the other companies are any good either!!
  • I have just received a text from Vodafone as well telling me my line rental will be going up by 2.4% on 1st November so I rang them up to complain. The lady was nice but not particularly useful because she couldn't do anything about it. They didn't offer to waiver the price rise and said I also couldn't cancel early because the increase is less then 10%. Apparently I would have to pay £416.00 to buyout of the contract early.
I won't be renewing with them at the end of the contract, not just because of this but also the staff never seem to be able to help and some can be abrupt and rude.

Just spent over 50 minutes on the phone to be disconnected. Tried calling through and told now closed.

Absolutely pathetic service. I was put through to an advisor in the accounts department after 30 mins on hold and then asked to be put through to cancellations where I spent another 20 minutes on hold.

I am so angry right now. If there is a Vodafone representative on here I would like someone to contact me ASAP.
I find it very hard to believe that your advisors are unable to organise a call back although they work for a mobile phone company.

Every company puts their prices up, in line with inflation, and I believe 2.4% is less than inflation, having said that.

The Out of bundle charges for data will increase my bill by more than 10% so I have submitted the email although not going to lie, I am not holding out faith that usual email team will either understand nor respond, so will get the letter fired off on Monday

I think it is absolutely disgusting how they can put the prices up. I pay £31 a month for an iPhone contract that i started in august. Now they are telling us that they are increasing the prices without no proper warning, my contract will go up 70p a month which is not a lot but when you times it by 24 months thats £16 pounds. I thought a contract was fixed isn't that the point of it?. Yes inflation is going up but when a company is making millions of pounds a year cant they absorb it?. It seems to me like they can do whatever they like with contracts but we have no power at all!

I've had no luck at all with customer services!
Can people please advise on what steps they have taken?
Is MSE following this up at all?

The point of the contract is for service. It never, ever guaranteed a price so this misunderstanding is widespread - but it doesn't make it so just because the contract isn't read or understood. They cannot 'do what they' like with contracts, but the price charged is a tariff, and that is variable.
  • You may not be aware but Santander Bank this year tried a similar gambit.... Many small business owners, myself included, were incensed by their announcement that they intended to renege on their account that had offered free banking FOREVER (for small businesses). Some of the 200 thousand affected said ‘tut’ and moved to other banks…The rest of us screamed blue murder and complained to the ombudsman and guess what… Santander backed off with its tail between its legs and said ‘because of a small number of account holders who disagreed with the new options’ HUH !! ..it would now not change the terms and conditions.
A lesson to all you Vodafone customers….don’t roll over and go to Orange as one contributor said or indeed any other provider….. FIGHT BACK…and you WILL win…betcha
