Just a small point Jo4, if your dad like myself ticks the (save user name) box you may find cleaner has flushed out all that info. Hope he's kept a note somewhere :-)

Flush DNS... will make it as basic as possible.

Ok, all web addresses/url's have a IP number. So when you call up a web page, you are calling that number.

To make life easier for your computer, it stores a memory of current and commonly used numbers.

The thing is with these numbers... they change. So when you call a web page such as your email, it will make a connection to it or try to if the number has changed. Even if it has changed, and your pc knows it has changed, it may still call the old number based on the cached memory. Thus slowing things right down.

Try this to see what is in the memory right now...

open up the CMD prompt as described before.

    Typing 'ipconfig /displaydns"

It will show you all the addresses in memory.

You are right to distrust me (I mean that kindly), it is wise to ask why you have been asked to do something like this.

My advice, google "ipconfig /flushdns" you may get a better explanation, or more difficult one... but I hope you'll see it is not a dangerous thing to do.

    "No records of type AAAA"

It stated "the requested operation requires elevation."

Should I still try mail again?
Ok that means you need to run the CMD prompt as administrator.

OK, so when you type CMD into the RUN/SEARCH box, you should see an icon of it listed at the top under programs.

Right click that icon and select 'Run as Administrator' or words to that affect.

You may be asked for your administrator password.

He usually uses one of a number of passwords so hopefully for his sake he will remember them.

It has just loaded but it will not let you click on anything yet as that takes another few minutes.
