Dad has done it again - downloaded something that now stops his IE from loading!

Was it Figment? Finding that botnet was a good call.Malwarebytes found Rootkit.Zeroaccess in local service and network service.0

change the homepage
reset IE to defaults under tools, internet options, advanced.
if problems continue, check other sites.
post a hijackthis log
Hijackthis is not on his computer so I have had to reboot it and now I am waiting for her to load and then I will download Hijackthis and run it.0 -
hijackthis is not that important now (but post anyway, it only takes seconds) - you need to get scanning with tools that can deal with rootkits.!!

what is it doing.
try safemode - F8 at boot.
if you can get it started up in normal mode, or safemode with networking, there is a list of scanners in post 61, try them all in order.
The final one is a bootcd, which has to be burned as a disc image with something like imgburn.!!
