You can shout it all you like, tax credits are benefits. You also seem to forget that child tax credits, unlike tax allowances, are paid even when there is no household income to pay tax on.
Point taken.
But ive always worked, whilst not being on a high as income as some. Atleast i have worked and paid alot more in taxes then what celebrities who earn 10x more then i do.
But i have always seen Tax Credits as something which helps go towards things like food, clothes etc.
I dont get WTC.0 -
If you can afford to work part time our not at all then great. Maybe it is something to aspire to when planning to have children although hasn't mums are better mums working than at home looking after the kids but that's another debate. The problem it's when people have children without any consideration of the consequences and then expect to choose to raise their kids the way they believe is best for the kids. having it BEST if a luxury not a choice unless your can afford it.
This doesn't make any sense whatsoever :rotfl:“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
How can ANYONE defend the OP (taken literally) ie to bring another child into a single parent household with no future to receive benefits?
Aside from their trolling - I can't see who anyone can defend them or anyone else in the same situation.
As to the poster who says they should be a parent - FGS - Have you ever been to a Social Services/Sure Start/Charity ran session? What are the %age of children that are in FREE childcare from BIRTH as their parents aren't able to look after them whose parents are on benefits. 95% plus - closer to 100%.
How come the vast majority of children whose parents don't send their PE kit, homework book, read to them are those who are on benefits.
How come schools need to offer free breakfasts to get children to school?
How come children of those on benefits are more at risk of social depravation etc
There are some blooming good parents who rely on benefits, but these are the minority and are usually not a life style choice.
And the above is professional and personal observations (exceptions to the rule on both sides).
Edited to add a cavear- I am not talking about disabilities, carers, short term benefit claiminats (that isn't a choice) - but those who are fit for work and have child after child to keep on benefits.0 -

Breakfast club isn't free, at my daughters school it's £1.20 per day per child, regardless of income
Would you mind providing some links/evidence to your claim that equipment isn't provided by parents for the kids as I've not heard this..I always take the moral high ground, it's lovely up here...0 -

But thats where this country has gone wrong.
The family morals of what was there far back as the 50's has gone right out of the window.
People then knew how too survive probably mostly down to the fact of WW2 and people were more hands on.
But what existed then and clearly doesn't now is discipline.
Nowadays there is no respect.
Some parents dont seem to be able to look after their own children.
Even the basics of making sure the child have decent cooked meals, clean clothes and education and do i blame the parents? partly yes, but then again their parents might have been the same dragged up rather then brought up so to them its the norm.
Whats needed is education and this is something which needs to be drilled into people right as far back are secondary school.
Teach them more about the basics of living, finance etc
Another thing i have always been a huge believer in is that young people who either are trouble or clearly not looking for work or attending college should be put into national service for a 2yr period...that would most certainly sort the society of this country out0 -

In my LA school in deprived areas have FREE brekkie clubs - or heavily subsidesed - 50p etc.
My school I pay £6.40 a day
What do you mean by equipment? Do you mean books etc? yes they are free, it's just that they are not brought into school (ie left at home). It's not who paid for them it's their usage.0 -

Lets forget what the JC need to do, you can take the good advice thats been posted and get yourself to college, you can also look for jobs whilst at college. Wouldnt a 5 year old be at school ? If so you can work during them hours.
So you were working for a community shop then, what happened to that ?0 -

And I'm amazed that neither you nor anyone else here has asked what does this young mother do with her very young child when she's working.
Has no-one picked up that she hasn't said anything about that?
Since there's so much judgement flying around.... I personally think it's wrong to shunt very young children out to other people to look after.
Glaringly wrong!
What the hell is patronizing about giving someone praise for getting off their a**e and working ????
The poster doesn't HAVE to explain where her child is looked after to you or anyone on here....
She has found a work/child compromise which obviously suits her and her child......what would you rather she sat at home watching JK claiming every benefit going :mad:0 -
