Yes but I think if you log in using the same Google account it will download all your old apps from the play store (and I think it does this automatically).

I fancy the ICS upgrade on mine but i'm not sure whether to wait for the official upgrade from Vodafone or just go for it

If the voda ics does turn up it will be voda branded with more bloatware.

The huawei ics is "official". It works fine and is free from any voda popups etc.

Has anyone unlocked one on vodaphone and stuck a '3' Sim chip in?

Its been suggested to me that i might not get full internet if i do.

I'm really dithering over this phone (wish it had got a front facing camera).

I quite like the Xperia U but i need a bigger screen and the forward facing camera lets it down (1.3 megapixels)

G300 replacement the G330 has front camera -dunno how much though

Funnily enough these are the two models I am dithering over too. I was about to get the Xperia U from Phones4U when I spotted the £65 offer on here. P4U sell it for £129.99 on a PAYG upgrade, which bizarrely is £20 less than their standard price; not to be confused with 'sim-free', which even more bizarrely is alot more!
BTW the forward-facing cam is a bonus, i.e. it doesn't mean it lacks one at the back as well (which is 5MP). For me, it's a trade-off between screen size, price, dual core chip, video call capability and the fact that the Sony screen is more easily seen in sunlight..
If we both eventually get the G300, then maybe we could try Skypeing each other using mirrors held in front of the rear cam

Dont forget if you do install ICS it does invalidate your warranty unless its the Vodafone one

Sony uses Bravia technology which is probably why. Hubby bought himself the Xperia U last week and its a fantastic bit of kit. He sent me a picture of himself using the forward facing camera though and the quality was awful... Not suprising for a 1.3 megapixel camera. However, i do need a bigger screen (either that or carry my reading glasses everywhere i go).

I'd like the Xperia S which has a 4.2" screen but i dont think the forward facing camera is much better on that and £289 is rather a lot of money for a 'want' and not a 'need'. My Wildfire S trully sucks though.

The Huawei Ascend G330 (with front facing camera and dual core processor) will be launched soon, reportedly at approx £150. Maybe worth waiting and comparing it to the Sony?
