The Huawei Ascend G330 (with front facing camera and dual core processor) will be launched soon, reportedly at approx £150. Maybe worth waiting?

I wonder how it will fare with my '3' contract chip inside it though. Hubby paid for £149 for his Xperia U (which also has a dual core processor). The redeeming feature that keeps me coming back to the Huawei is the screen size.

It will need unlocking to use your 3 sim.

    They have mislead you.
  • I have to say I genuinely can't see why the phone, once unlocked, wouldn't work as it should with a 3 sim?

She needs to Skype on it, so maybe she has read that some 3 customers have lost Skype capability https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3202478

That's not the same as the Skype Android app though, so it's OK.

Now to check whether they have stock ...
They did. I called and they had two. I reduced their stock by 50%.

The procedure was a little different from what I expected. Yes, it was a reduction of £15 with a £30 spend. I had to spend first, then take the receipt to the phone counter. Just the receipt, there was no coupon. A quick inspection of the receipt, then a new transaction of £80 less £15 = £65 charged to the credit card.

Mine is locked to Vodafone. I have ordered an unlock code. It is charged and operating on wifi via my router.

Just one thing. I looked at the absurd Quick Start Guide and have now downloaded the handbook online. I can't switch the pesky thing off! When I press the screen as suggested by the instructions, I get an 'Add to home screen' menu: add shortcut/add widget/add folder' when all I want to do is switch off. It will be absurd if I have to take out the battery when I want to fly ...

Shirley it has a hard power button?

Sony uses Bravia technology which is probably why. Hubby bought himself the Xperia U last week and its a fantastic bit of kit.
Anyone considering this should note there is no SD card slot, an astonishing oversight on a phone of this quality. Furthermore, it has only 4GB of HDD storage space according to the Virgin Mobile August brochure (there again, that states it has only one cam!)
