Ok just upgraded today. I got the following:
Nokia 5800 Xpress Music Phone (Free)
600 Xnet mins/per month
1000 SMS/per month
Unlimited Web Bolt On
£300 Cashback.
18 month contract.
They did offer the same deal as above but with no phone and with £540 cash back However, cash back can only be claimed in months 6,12 and 18. Thats too long so better way I thought, get the phone, sell it and you get the cash upfront0 -
just a word of warning , or if anyone would give me some advice that would be great.
2 years ago i needed a new mobile, i was still in contract with O2 and for what they wanted to charge me for a new phone, it was cheaper to go to CPW and take out another contract and get the phone "free", i did this and used my original sim with O2 in it because i was on such a great deal.
12 months passed , no problems, i ring up to cancel the CPW sim, i was told that i could keep the sim "free" of charge, they would credit my account with the full 12 months credit...so obviously i kept it, cancelled my dd because as far as i was concerned that was it, spare sim for emergencies
about a month later i received a bill stating my dd was cancelled and i owed £20 odd pound, i rang them, they apologised, said it wont happen again, end of story
this year (24th Feb) i ring them to cancel, same again, free for 12months..ok
today i receive a bill... a final demand bill for £52.42
i've rang them and apparently for the entire 12 months because i didnt have a dd set up on the account, ive been charged a £3.50 a month admin fee, this is something i was never told, otherwise i wouldn't have done it! its a spare sim, never been used.
it also says that "despite previous requests", ive not paid, this is the first letter i've had from them!
It says if i dont pay it, it will go to a debt recover agency, legal proceedings and a default will be registered against me.
I've told them i want it cancelling and they have told me that my 14 day period is up, because its from the day i verbally agreed to it, not the day i received the new sim.
Why wasnt this deficite on my account raised when i rang up to cancel 15 days ago?
Im currently waiting for a call back from a manager..any advice?0 -

Hi xdaisyx,
Sorry to hear about your problem. I have a similar issue with them and i made a complaint about it. Told them it was illegal for them to charge this fee as they no bills were produced by them where they took any payments and therefore they can not charge this fee, when they have not processed any payments. I told them to cancel it or ill take them to the small claims court to claim it back plus compensation for the distress. I never heard anything from them again. Stick to it and they them to court if need be but i would say don't pay.
Youd be better off calling them again as i wouldn't trust them to call you back. If that dont work then write to them and send it recorded del and say they have 7 days to reply from reciept else you will asume they have cancelled the debt.
What was your deal for the 12 months free? Is it a 12 month contract. What tariff and were you given a credit for the full 12 months or did you have to claim cashback?
Hope it helps.

I had a problem a few years ago about cashback and a nice email to their CEO soon sorted it - his team are very good and prompt.
Not sure if it still works but the email is cdunstone@cpw.co.uk0 -

thanks for that, no call still but they said it would be within 72 hours, i will call Sat morning if i've still heard nothing.
It was only 75 minutes and 125 texts but for free i thought that was great, they credited my account up front with £300 which covered the £25 a month for 12 months.
My arguement is, how can i be charged an admin fee monthly on a bill that never existed?
Thanks for your reply, i'll update this with any developments0 -
Did you get any monthly bills? They should have been sending you these every month and if they did and the charges are not shown on them then why have they charged you on your final bill. If you did not get any then why was this? Evern though the contract was free, they still need to send you a bill.0

i got an email notification every month for an online bill but it just stated the full amount £25 each month so as far as i was concerned it was paid, it never increased or rolled on, each month would be the same as the previous one0 -

This is via redemption. So £100 each in months 6, 12 and 18 so in total £300.
Auto cashback I didn't ask but the deals aren't great with auto cashbacks.0
