I was also offered that deal but I told them the minutes were too low and that I would be better off with a 12 months free via M2YD with vodafone and a new phone.
We agreed on 400 mins and txts, no new phone on a 24 months @ £5 per month.
I also stated that I need my last bill intact to claim my last cashback and was told they would ring back on Monday after my bill has been generated.
I will probably go with this if still available, saves a lot of hassle for £5 per month.

Lynsey - I would hold out for more if I were you - I got 400 minutes, 1000 texts, and unlimited internet on my phone for £5 a month over 24 months. They CAN do better!0 -
oooo this is one hard company to get what you want.
this refers to my previous posts starting at #330
phoned up a week or two ago to check my tariff but it was still the rubbish 75 anytime mins, 250 texts and unlimited internet for £10/month for 18 months. I asked for it to be on the simplicity tariff at £15 with the 14 days cooling off period. They said it was in the system but never got through, and they said it would be sorted on the 19th June. So fair enough I will wait a week.
Phoned up today to check if it had been sorted, but as expected it hadn't. I asked what my tariff was, he said 75 mins, 125 texts for £20/month for 18 months. That is worse than what I accepted, twice the price half the texts. Then he says he will send some forms and it will be done on the next billing date which is 19th July, almost a whole month away. This is a joke. So it is time to send an email to them.0 -
Hello everyone. I need some advice. Basically, I have been on the following contract with O2 at cpw for the last 12 months (contract due for renewal in 2 weeks):
- 800 xnet minutes per month
- 400 texts per month
- Motorola L6 phone (carried over from my last contract so it is nearing being 3 years old).
As this contract was a fantastic deal, I am looking to renew. However, the L6 has well and truly had it, so desperately need a new handset. Having phoned them, they won't be able (as expected) to renew this contract with a new handset, so instead of pushing, do you reckon it is worth buying a cheap handset independently. I do not need a flashy handset, just something that does the basics.
Does anyone know if you can buy phones direct from them independent of your contract?
Cheers for all of your help.0 -

What was their offer to you if you were to renew the contract without a new handset?
I think nowadays, phone contracts with free phones aren't attractive anymore. It think it might be cheaper to just renew the contract without a new phone and get the sim-free unlocked handsets from places like expansys or play.com.
Also, nell2 ...you said you were offered your 400mins 1000 txts contract for £5/month for a 24 month contract. Is this via automatic credit to your account or is it via cashback?0 -
what can I do if I accepted an upgrade of 75 mins, 250 texts and unlimited web for £10/month, but instead I have been given 75 mins and 125 texts for 20/month. And within 14 days of accepting I told them I wanted to be on the £15 simplicity and they have not changed it on the date they specified and need to wait till next billing date for it to change which at this rate isn't going to change.
not sure where to put a question mark.....the question is what can I do to make them change it asap?0 -

Automatic credit of £20 a month to my account. (My tariff is £25) I told them from the start that I wasn't going to do cashback and that they needn't even bother to offer it, and they (eventually) came back with my current deal which I'm very pleased with. Last year, they credited my account with £300 at the start of the deal (which effectively gave me 12 months free on a 12 month contract) so that is another possible option you may wish to explore with them!0 -

Do you have confirmation of what you agreed to in writing? I got them to confirm my new deal by email because what they put in the letter you'll get thanking you for extending your contract is woefully vague. Did they say that they would recalculate your next bill from your next billing date to make sure that you are charged as if you are on the simplicity tariff? If so, then I would be inclined to get them to confirm this by email, and then hang on I think.
When you speak to them, do they agree that you should be on the £15 simplicity tariff or are they denying that and claiming that you are in a new contract with them? Again, get it confirmed by email (make a nuisance of yourself - I did!) and then you've covered yourself.
A couple of tips re email - if you log into your online billing and then email from there, all your account details seem to go into the subject of the message. (If you ask the person on the phone to email, they often don't, so email them and then they should reply.) Also, I found that they wanted to reply by phone. When they called, I told them I wanted a reply by email, and then I got it.0 -
Thanks nell
unfortunately I didn't get a written confirmation of the deal. Didn't think it was necessary since it was a pretty poor deal.
He didn't say anything about recalculating the next bill, so i'll still be paying £20 for that month.
When I phoned up to change it, I was told it had been changed to £15 simplicity, I checked my minutes for the next few days and definately wasn't those minutes so I phone up, the lady says it hasn't gone through and it will be done on 19th June, now I am told to wait till 19th July. Everytime I spoke to them they say that the simplicity deal is on there. When I asked if I am stuck on the 18 month contract he said no.
Do you think i can ask to be disconnected? that is essentially what i am doing once I am on the simplicity thing.0 -
You should not be out of pocket because they made a mistake. Tell them (nicely!) that you would like them to put a £5 credit on your bill for this month. I'm not sure that they can change the tariff part way through a billing period, but they can certainly recalculate your bill so you should only end up paying what you would have paid if they had put you on the right tariff in the first place. Ask them if they are planning to do this for you!
And yes, if you are, as they say, on the Simplicity tariff, you should be able to give 30 days notice that you wish to terminate the agreement. (Maybe you could use the fact that they made a mistake to try and squeeze a little bit extra from them if you stay for a few months - just a thought!)0 -
cant be bothered with all the faffing - called back and got offered the £10pm 12m contract said no i wanted cheaper so got the 275 mins and 250 texts for £5 per month for 2 year contract. Excellent! :money:0
