Well, just got off from the phone to O2, i said i wanted to cancel unless i got a better deal so i got patched through to retentions(i think).

Basically i quoted them a deal that OSPS are doing, with 3 mobile, nokia 6500 slide, 300mins/txts, 18 month contract,£15 a month, £40 auto cash back+50 quidco which worked out £10 a month for 18 months...and the best they would offer me was 275mins/200texts 18months, £20pm, £100 auto cash cash, works out £14 a month with the 6500 slide...i didn't accept the offer and he refused to offer me anything better! kept on telling me how 3 had crap service, reception etc basically slagging them off...

shall i wait and call again, or wait for them to call me back?

Looking at e2save they had some nice looking 99p a month deals for 'enough' minutes and texts on O2, that will be my comparison because if CPW won't at least match it, I'll happily move over to e2save.

I don't even want the new phone, so would probably be better off with the ebaying of it and quidco if there was some.

That said, I don't think they will bother matching it.

    Hi everyone,
I would like to cancel my CPW O2 contact, when I rang them up, they said i need a reference no. to put on my cancellation letter and they are not giving out the reference no. until the last day of my contact. Which mean I need to pay for another month.
Is that correct? or I can just write a letter say i would like to cancel the contact?

    thanks in advance.

Just write the letter, send it recorded delivery and put in it, as stated in their terms and condtions you are giving notice of cancellation. Make sure you send it recorded delivery and follow up with a phone call.

    What would you do?

I have been offered a CPW 02 retention deal as my e2save 12 months deal nears its end (300 mins 300 txts).
Verbally they say – 600 mins, 500txts (suits me fine) for £35/month with 12 months free line rental for 18 month contract, 3 chequeback claims, makes this net £11.66/m (SIM only).
    The printed invoice arrives saying:
BT Cellnet Value Telecom Gsm Upgrade (BT3GSIM) - £0.00
    12 Mths Free L/R – (Web O2 Airtime upg) - £0.00
Minimum length of contract is 18 months Grand total £0.00
    (Same phone number retained)
No new SIM card was enclosed. No details of up front cost per month, no redemption details, no monthly mins or txts details. Despite my emphasising how important it is for me to have these details in writing, by phone, no confirmation has been received.

Do I argue that this is a good deal, be patient, have faith, all will be well?
Or simply cancel, walk away and try sometime better (any ideas for a better deal)?

I have found emails are usually answered fairly promptly (after an automated response) if you go through the Help and Info section. Quote as many reference/contract details as you can, and they can usually confirm your tariff etc.

    http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/commerce/servlet/gben-server-PageServer?ARTICLE=MAIN.UK.INTERNET.HELPINFO.INDEX

Your new tariff will be applied to your old SIM - no need for a new one, but check when the new tariff starts as it will affect which bills have to be submitted.

You just need to send the first 2 pages of a printed bill for the relevant cashback claims. Send with a covering letter and you should receive a confirmation text within 7-10 days, saying a cheque will be posted.

I was on 400 mins/100 texts Sim-only deal last year (12 months free on 12 month deal). This year I have got 400 mins/500 texts (no new phone) for 10 months free on a 12-month deal. So £70 for a year after redemption.

having read other threads on here and had problems myself I would not trust CPW without having everything in front of me in writing.

Read the o2 CPW retentions thread - they rarely seem to send out confirmation of the deal in writing (I am still waiting after 6 weeks) but it does show on the system. Personally, not as worried as have dealt with o2 CPW - your deal may be different as this is an old e2save deal and not sure if they are dealt by the awkward squad at e2save or by the slightly (!) more honest and reliable CPW core team.

Personally, still not happy without it in writing and will attempt again to get this confirmed (but 12 months free on 18 month contract is not the best deal - without a handset I got 11 months free on 12 months contract on o2 CPW retention).

I had a very interesting call with CPW today when I rang up for my PAC code to take my number to a new 100% cashback contract with e2save.

He went on about how Onestopphoneshop and e2save couldn't be trusted, that CPW gave 60 days to claim not 30 as the other two do (e2save is now 60 too though), and they would honour payments if there was another postal strike as long as it was sent recorded even if it arrived outside of the 60 days.

He then went on about how the phones with these two were old models (true, but it's not £20 on ebay for a Nokia 6300).

Next he offered the same deal I was on (250 mins, 100 texts) for £60 for 12 months, via a £300 credit to my account now.

I asked what he could do for a redemption model and then he offered me 400 mins and 1,000 texts for £35 a month, 100% redeemable; I took it. :)

I rang o2 last month and they give me a contract with 75 minutes and 125 texts, when the day came to change over contracts they disconnected the phone instead, when I should have been changed over.

It was only my second phone so I was not too bothered but I will not be able to use that number again, just a word of warning for people upgrading just make sure you do get upgraded and not disconnected.
