I think it's better to buy a reasonable/cheaper handset than get an all singing all dancing one on an upgrade, especially when it's new, in a few months down the line you could get the same phone much cheaper.Nearly debt free

similar to that of "starving artist"
My contract ends next month. CS offered me 11 months cash back on 12 month contract: 400 mins, 1000 texts. No handset but I'm happy with what I've got already. Pay £35 per month by direct debit, make three claims (not automatic). I got CS name and direct line. He's going to send it in writing and I've still got 7 days to cancel. Said all phone calls are recorded so made a note of date and time as well.
I could not get 100%cashback because my usage of last 6months was less.0 -
If they are offering 11 months free on 12 months contract (and still having to claim), would it be better to start a new contract so that you can also get Quidco etc?

Got my 'Getting Started' leaflet today and my receipt.
But on the receipt all it says is BT Cellnet Value Telecom GSM Upgrade, O2 400 Mins/500 text 12 Month.
There's no sign of the 11 months free / cash back deal etc..
Is this the norm?
Can anyone else confirm what they've received?

I think its normal. I've never had the cash back deal written on the receipt/invoice. It should be on their system but I would have it in writing first.0 -
I'll read through this thread in total later, but a quick search failed to find anything on this.
I'm about to initiate legal proceedings against CPW for failure to pay cashback (oh the irony!).
They lost the first one (after they had sent a confirmation text ) and when eventually I got through to someone they said to resend, which I did, this time by recorded delivery with the second one as it was that time already and it made sense not to send two items to the same place...
They sent a second text but again no money. I called their cashback dept who said because I sent the two claims together I would get the first one, but not the second.
She said I had assumed that I could send two claims together and I couldn't, despite her admitting that there was nothing in the T&Cs that stated this (and why would there be, if they paid out the first on time, I wouldn't have sent two claims together...)
Yes, I should have sent the first by recorded delivery, but given that you get 60 days to make the claim and they confirm by text they receive it, I didn't see the need, I could print out another from their website and resend. Plus I have emails confirming receipt from chasing it up.
It is coming up to the annual cancellation call, I'll be very careful about what I accept to be retained (if they will offer someone taking them to court a new contract :rotfl:).Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -

Spoke to a CS. They looked at my record and read out my deal - which is the 11 month free one - phew.
He said the sim card i got gets sent with a generic invoice and to wait for a couple of days for the actual LETTER (not invoice but a letter from them). If no joy - he said i can pop down to a CPW shop and ask them to show me what they've got on screen and maybe get a print.0 -
Contract due to end in March, phone to cancel and port number offered the same contract / deal as now but with a free CPW £300 credit to cover the next 10 months contract at £30 month with 200 X network minutes and 200 texts and the option to change after 10 months free.
I did ask how they make money out of that and he said they get £400 from O2 to keep the contract going so they will end up winning in the end?0 -
just thought i would let you know my credit has been applied on my account :j:cool:0
