• Phoned CPW yesterday to cancel contract and was given Southampton address to write to along with disconnection number - no attempt to offer better deal to stay, seemed a bit strange.

Then this afternoon was called from Warrington and asked why I was leaving. Said I was moving to an (unspecified ) cashback deal. Was then offered a 24 month contract, 400 minutes and 400 texts per month, at £10 per month but no phone upgrade, but no hassle with cashback claims, just straight £10 per month DD.

First I've heard of these - any other similar experiences?

I helped my cousin get an upgrade with CPW-o2, this was last week, when we called they asked how many mins he wanted we said 600 xnet mins, two weeks earlier they offered a cashback deal which wasn't too good and the offers without a phone were slightly better. This time the offer was 600 xnet mins with about 500 texts and choose from an extra one of them was extra texts, we chose xnet weekend mins (upto 2000 a month), all this for £35.00 pm on an 18 month contract with a £20 credit pm making it £15pm which was good, then the guy went away to check something and came back and said he could do the same plan for £30pm with the £20 credit it's £10pm but on a 24 month contract. My cousin was happy with £10pm and agreed to the contract.

We asked for conformation in writing and the CS advisor said they will be sending a letter by post, asked for also by e-mail and was told they can't do this, after some persistence he said that his manager would send an e-mail, no e-mail sent as yet, but after another call to customer services it is on their system.

I was told the automatic bill credit was a new thing with CPW-o2, Orange have been doing this with one of my contracts since last year.

So chewyjoint I think you could do much better.

• One thing to keep in mind guys that most phones only have a 12 month guarantee so you'd be knackered if it screws up in next 24 months especially if you're into handsets and stuff

i know nokia and sony ericsson offer a 2 year guarantee on their phones
• My contract ends next month. CS offered me 100% cash back on 12 month contract: 400 mins, 500 texts. No handset but I'm happy with what I've got already. Pay £35 per month by direct debit, make three claims (not automatic). I got CS name and direct line. He's going to send it in writing and I've still got 7 days to cancel. Said all phone calls are recorded so made a note of date and time as well.

They are lying to you. They ALL have company (CPW) email addresses. I have had stuff emailed from different CPW staff several times before.

When they say can't, I believe that it must be company policy rather than physically can't as I was told this last week as well.

• I wonder why they would have a policy like that? Still, if they say something on the phone at least you can always rely on that with this lot...

I rang today claiming to have a 'missed call' from their Retention Team.

Got through to a top bloke who offered me the same deal I'm on now - i.e. 400 min 500 text, £35 a month with 11 month free on a 12 month contract.

Did the usual - got ALL the details (name, number etc.)

can't complain.....
