I'm afraid that information is incorrect. I've just phoned them too. Despite being told over a month ago that they have now extended the period to at least a month, they are still insisting that written notice is required with the disconnection code AND that you can only obtain that 34 days before the 12 months is up. I had the same situation in June AND the recorded delivery letter wasn't signed for (seen that with others on here). As usual I'd already covered myself and had a long complaint before I sent mine, so it was honoured. Otherwise it won't be - you have been warned!! At that time I was also given a default disconnection number (but didn't use it); it is 5885585.

I suspect that you may be right. The problem with these people is that they give different information on a per call basis.

Since the terms and conditions, for 02 connections, do not specify that a DRN is required then it cannot be enforced. The terms and conditions clearly state that at least 30 days notice is required. Therefore if you can demonstrate that you gave them this, then they cannot deny it. I'd suggest sending by Recorded Delivery, even though they don't seem to sign for them, and, send an email to them.

This problem of non signed for mail is a problem that people ought to be complaining to Royal Mail about. Royal Mail are leaving correspondence, along with the signing docket at the premises and are simply not ensuring their part of the bargain by obtaining a signature for that item. This is not a satisfactory arrangement and it is not what people have elected to pay for.

    Cheers for the info guys...

Well I sent it already today - record delivery - so I'll update this thread with the outcome....

P.S. Steve_xx where did you get the T and C from - I can't find my original docs anywhere. Can't seem to find them on the CPW site either.

Here are the 02 terms for you. Term 11 refers to terminations:

I've been with O2 through OSPS over the last year (11 months free, O2 250, £30 per month, 250 mins, 100 messages) and called yesterday to see the best deals they could offer me. As I wasn't bothered about a new phone I was offered:

    - 12 months free via redemptions but with 200 mins/ messages
    - 10 months free direct credit

I was also offered any of the 11months free clearance phones with £320 redemptions.

Are any of these good offers or do you think I should push harder? I'm tempted to take the 12 months free deal, but try to get more direct credit. Similarly, it may be worth my while to just take a new handset and sell it if I don't use it...

Any advice appreciated :) Really useful thread, thanks

Yes I got something like this as I went to vodafone as I wanted the N95 and CPW wouldnt give me anything decent when I asked. I think mine was 750 off peak mins and 100 txt

They wrote down the deal I had got and hopefully next time they might be able to offer me something better on an upgrade. It appears they only look at the website to gauge the competition as they were shocked when I advised them of the deal id got.

Spamberler, do you have details of your deal? An N95 would be mighty nice...

Update to my CPW saga... Mostly my stoopid fault though not knowing when my contract ended

Okay it seems like I really put a spanner in the works.... I phoned retention dept after reain on here that I need a DRN and told him the story about the guy saying I need to send a letter off to cancel the contract. Anyway I found out that the contract didn't end till 15th September and the guy that rang me was someone from outbound - or something or other... He then tried to offer me some better deals - said I would think about it and he said ring back on the 10th August and speak to me then if you are going to cancel or take up the offers then.

Fair enough. I thought, well they aint going to cancel the contract without a DRN so the letter would get binned. WRONG.... I got 2 text messages today giving me a PAC number to be used before 2nd Sept. Argghhhhhhh. I dunno whether to ring them again and see whats going on, or hold on till the 10th Sept ring up plead ignorant and say I want a DRN.

How can they give me a PAC number before the contract ends on 15th Sept? Unless..... I have paid up till that date and can only use the sim up till the 2nd/its ported out...

God only knows whether I'll get the last cashback that I need to claim on 12th month...

    What'd'ya think about that?
