Ok, I was eventually offered the following after weeks of negotiations and patience (well worth it in my view):
Nokia E65 - Free (there was a upgrade fee for this handset but it was discounted to zero and given for free)
400 Xnet Minutes and 500 SMS per month for the first 6 months then changes back to 100 SMS per month for the remaining 6 months.
£300 cashback.
12 month contract.
Works out to be £10 per month (£120 a year). However, there was a upgrade fee for the Nokia E65 which was £89.99 but the advisor was very generous and it was discounted to 0 and was offered for free so effectively it means the deal works out to be £2.50 per month.
I could complain with that and I was more then happy with it. The handset alone currently costs £300 if brought sim free and it was only released in February 2007.
Damn. I told them about this deal but they could not match it!!!! Idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway I got a Samsung U600 - Brand new. £35 per month then £300 cashback by redemption. So total £120 for the phone. Then the phone cost me £29.99 so total £150.
Which is not bad with 300 mins and 500txt for 6 months then 250txts. Now where near as good as the deal above but not bad.
Flog the phone on ebay and should be in a small profit. Plus i'll swap the phone for a PINK one and it'll sell for more.0 -
Hi, just called CPW upgrades and was offered:
- 18month 1/2 price line rental (£180 chequeback), £30pm 400mins/500txt. If I keep my phone (810i)
or
- new 880i £30pm for 18months
Is this a standard first offer?
He didn't want to budge much! Told them I could get my current phone on a new contract for <£10 per month and he didn't offer any better.
How do I make them work a bit harder?
Thanks all0 -

Hi,
I called the disconnections department, because I got offered something like this when I called upgrades.
I got offered 200 mins 250 text per month, for £30, and then £360 cashback claimable in 3 installments. No new phone though, but I'm perfectly happy with my own phone anyway and don't need another one. Basically a year free!0 -

Sounds like the perfect deal to me. I'm happy with my current phone too. Do you have the number handy? Thanks!0 -
I cancelled my contract, requesting my PAC yesterday at around 10.30. I posted the letter as instructed to get my PAC number today. At around lunchtime I got a call from retentions offering me:
100 Texts
50 Minutes
completely free for 12 months - I declined straight away so never got to find out whether this was via cashback.

That sounds like a decent deal, I am on a £35 contract and I would love to keep it if I can get a decent amount of cashback, as I don't want to lose my inclusive 0870 minutes.

I just got the same deal, since I've been with them for a year they upgraded me to a call 12 month free line rental tariff of 750 off peak calls and 125 texts off peak, they credit £300 into my phone account and I don't have to pay anything unless I go over the 750 or call in peak times!
I think it's great, I didn't want a new phone in the first place and was depressed that I would have to be giving up my lovely chocolate phone because I could no longer afford the monthly tariff, this came as a real surprise, I get free line rental for a whole year and get to keep using my phone, YAY!
I went for this too - £300 credit already showing up in the txt bills I requested one week after the new tariff kicked in!! Also can someone confirm 0844/0845/0870 numbers are included?? I have tested a couple of 0844 and not been charged so far (from the txt requests) - when the actual bill gets here might be another matter. In the words of Jerry Maguire "SHOW ME THE MONEY"0 -
I'm in month 11 and want to cancel and move to a PAYG.
Do I really have to mess around calling them and being put on hold, and then write a letter which they might lose?
Is there no easier way?!0 -
No. You must call them and get as deconnection code, then send a letter (recorded delivery).0

Really did want to cancel but have been offered the above. I have had no problem with cashback with cpw and v.tempted to go with it as it's not going to cost me anything.
No phone but quite happy with my treo.0
