It was a 12 month contract. I've just seen on E2save that they're doing exactly the same deal but with either a free nokia 6300 or a lg shine. Seeing as E2save are cpw, it seems a bit silly to not have a free phone worth about £75!0 -
Just a question about CPW retention offers - I'm in the last month of my contract.
If I phone up and am persuaded to stay, will they change the contract immediately?
I ask because there is a chequeback to claim with the 12th bill, and I guess if the tariff changes they won't pay it.0 -
That's a little complicated. Assuming you're already on O2 it won't affect your last claim, but the contract will run from termination date of current plus 12 months even though the now one would start immediately (they don't tell you the first bit until you've agreed and they commence reading the t&c).0

Thanks for this.
Yes I'm currently with O2. So if I set up a new contract from today for example for a lower tariff than my current tariff, you're saying that the month 12 chequeback claim of my existing contract will be OK?0 -
Lower tariff is ok under the old t&c if through E2Save. cpw itself may be another matter - but you get told different things. There is no real advantage to downsizing earlier really - your new contract would be longer than 12 months i.e. it will still run until 12 months from the end of the first contract, if that makes sense. They CAN make you think you're saving up to 2 months payments - but you don't.0

OK. So if I wait and phone up 365 days after the contract started, will they expect me to give 30 days notice if I want to cancel?0
-
Cancelling the existing contract is entirely a separate matter. You need to do that anyway - and it's not as easy as it should be with them. You can still move across before it ends even after giving notice.0
-
ps Yes, they do require WRITTEN 30 days' notice. The difficult part is getting the disonnection code in time to give that AND getting them to sign for recorded delivery letters. However, if you do transfer before the end and haven't given notice that should be no problem. I gave notice so that I could always bow out, which I did for totally different reasons.0

With 02 contracts via CPW you have to give "at least" 30 days notice. Therefore there is nothing stopping you giving notice to quit on the last day of the minimum term as soon as you acquire a phone from them.0
