August 2012 Grocery Challenge

Hi everyone
July has gone horribly wrong financially in every which way... need to start afresh in August!
I will pledge £70 for August - I literally cannot go above that!
This is just for me, to include groceries, household products and any non-prescription meds (like hayfever tabs...I get the eye drops and nasal spray on prescription which is free for me).
Dry goods fairly well stockedf - not brilliant but could be worse!
I will be trying to make use of the website I found which I think is just fantastic - it's a meal planning website with great recipes and automatic shopping lists...

. (I'm on an I pad don't know if it makes a difference)
I have no idea how much I spend shopping, it can so easily be around £500ish
My tax credits are due to get drastically cut and I need to make some changes!
My new month starts on 27th
I'd like to try for £375this first month and see how it goes after that

Well Budgie has sorted out her food cupboards
I have loads of herbs/spices curry powders etc. Also quite well stocked up on tins/pasta/rice/sauces/mixes etc. Also in the freezer I have:
Organic Mince both lamb and beef
2 packets of Duchy meatballs
Organic joint of lamb
Sausages
Stewing Steak
Frying steak
Quiche
French Bread Pizza
One HM sausage casserole
Two HM stew and dumplings
Fries
Beer battered onion rings (Small portion)
Peas
Puff pastry circles (Left over pastry from a pie)
2 panini's
Loaf of Bread
Pizza base
So I am currently sorting out my shop from Ocado (still have free delivery). Salmon fillets are on offer, so looking at things like that.
Need to meal plan, but suprised at just what I do have in, as another poster said on another thread, its silly having too much money tied up on stock. Though you do need a stock cupboard of course.
Stil Budgie is motivated and aims to sort out this grocery spending.
Take care

£4.38 to add after visiting M&S tonight on jacket spuds and gammon steaks. I don't need the gammon for a couple of weeks but since I was walking past the shop I thought I would get them then I wouldn't have to make a special visit later on.
The jackets are to go with some salad I got on Sunday that needs eating up. Will have the same for my lunch tomorrow. DH doesn't need any as he will get fed at a meeting tomorrow.
DH really wanted a chinese tonight but because I don't know what I can eat there so didn't want one he decided against it too. Pre Coeliac disease would have had one cos he wanted one and would now be a tenner worse off.:D
I have withdrawn the amount of money we would normally spend on alcohol in a month as it usually comes out of the GC budget, and will pop it on a shelf in a jar to keep DH motivated on his 100 days without alcohol challenge. The money is going to go towards some treats later in the year. :T
I have done my meal plan for the next couple of weeks based around what we have in as I am so determined to hit my target this month. My shopping list for Friday is really small:D
I do have a few other spends to add from the weekend so will go and update my total. It looks quite high but includes a meal out that was budgeted for in the total and quite a few household supplies that will last a month or 2.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -

Please can you put me down for £400 again for August. I'll be back soon as I'm still in July but like NickJW I need to keep up here! Three trips away in July has played havoc with my ability to keep up! Must try harder :rotfl:
Good luck everyone
