I have just subscribed to thread and will be reading avidly, but my August is going to start 15th August when I get paid.
I need to go shopping today, I am hoping that when I do my last Calender month shop today for July I should come in under £400??!!
The 1st 15 days of August will be limbo, I'll just keep spending to a minimum then join in proper.
My friend wants me to make a Mars Bar tray bake for her running club, it'll only cost about £7 if I stick to own brand and value, am I mean that I'd like her to pay? I don't have anything to do with her running club and I'd expect to pay someone if I asked them to do it forme.
Another quick question, where would I get best value white ready to roll icing, I'm doing my MIL a 60th birthday cake, have got coloured sugar paste in the sale in hobby craft, but white was still expensive? It's for a 9 and 6 inch square 2 tier.....
Thanks and good luck everyone xxhi try B&M they had it in the last time i was in not sure of the size but it was big enough about the size of the smallest roll of tinfoil u can get, hope this helps.:)

August?? August??!
Where has the year gone already?!?
Zepsgal will be going for £200 for the month of August
A lot less than I normally budget, and I generally don't keep to the budget. BUT, I've got loads and loads of food at home. Mangaged to get gazillions of free stuff from a friend (long story, quick version is free stuff that was smoke damaged after a fire). Have got about 40 jars of Dolmio sauce, 18 4packs of Napolina chopped toms and plum toms, about 10 1kg bags of Napolina pasta, loads of pringles, chocolate bars, 6 9packs of Andrex, plus other stuff I can't think of.
So budget will be for everything else. Will try to get as many ys foods as I can without freezing anything (really need to defrost the freezer as I'm only using half of it due to frost)
August is my winning month :T:j i will keep to a budget! Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
I'm back in again too!
Thank you to all those that keep the thread running.:T
As it will be a 5 week shopping month for me I'll up my budget to £125. As I'm running low on dog food I'll need to do a big stock up and will include this. There's only me and the dog to provide for and so £25 a week should be plenty (famous last words!).
I'm a teacher and on school holidays now so the budget will be for all food (except the odd meal out), drinks, cleaning and laundry stuff and toiletries.
The month will start on Saturday and I think I have everything I need until then so fingers crossed the rest of this week will be a No Spend Week.:)0 -
Determined to continue to hold the purse strings in check. Still posting to the July thread until the first but I've already got £20 of Mr T vouchers for the first week in August.
So to get myself ready can you put me down for £450 this time please (a little less than last time - inlaws are coming over too so this may be a cut too far; but nothing ventured...)0 -
I'm being a pain, already! I've changed my figure on the above post but just incase you don't read it again i've put £300 instead of £250! store cupboards are low and so last few months have been coming in Waaaaaaay over (400 odd this month ) so once i've got a good stock up again i will drop the figure (i hope!) thank you

Please can I be put down for £250 for the 31st - 31st. There are 2 adults and 3 children in the house. The dog has special food which I already have in.
I also have a £100 extra which is for any bargains. I am also looking at stocking up on rice and pasta as worried about the price of potatoes in the winter.£370/£300 April challenge :T:T0 -
Hi :hello:
Can I join please as need to get a handle on outgoings in order to start seriously paying these debts down. I'm going to start with a budget of £200 for August, but am sure I can get this down in subsequent months. Don't want to start off too low though as I'm terrible for keeping receipts, etc so aren't really sure what I'm spending at the moment.
The recipes are really good, and thanks for letting me know about AF, etc... I'm a bit of a slave to the supermarkets, so need to reduce that reliance. Hopefully seeing everyone else doing so well will help to keep me motivated and keep my spending down!
As an aside, I'd like to get at least 15 NSDs in August, so will be keeping an eye on those too0 -
I am new to all of this money saving but really need to get real and going to give it a go!
I'm a teacher and on school holidays so the budget will be for all food, drinks, cleaning and laundry stuff and toiletries.
The month will start on Thursday 27th July and is a five week month.
My budget to £125.
There's only me and the crazy cat to provide for and so £25 a week should be plenty (Hmmmm! We will see!)
Good Luck everyoneWeekly Spend Challenge £0/£40 NSDs 0/7
