I've jsut started wading through my statements. Back in 2001, NATWEST were only charging me £14 to go Overdrawn.... is that acceptable or should I be added these charges (there are quite a few!) or ignore them?

Please see the list of charges in the Reclaim Help thread, link in my signature.

    Yep, you can reclaim these.

  • got letter this morning stating account charges and o/draft intrest, can i claim all back as they are all dif amounts?
  • Hello,

Can anyone please advise me if you can re-claim charges made on closed accounts.

Trying to turn over a new financial leaf I recently closed my Capital One Credit Card Account, paying off the remaining balance by cheque from my Nationwide account, unfortunately the cheque bounced (short of 86p in my Nationwide acc) this in turn caused Capital One to charge me a late payment fee on the account which I had to pay along with outstanding balance before my account could be closed.

I think I may have accrued about 5 other charges in the time I that I have had my account with Capital One, am I still allowed to re-claim these charges now that my account is now closed? Many thanks.

I am also going to claim against Nationwide for their ridiculous charges that I have had over the last few years, will let you know how I get on.

Yes, you can reclaim Late Payment Fees, and yes, it doesn't matter that the account is closed.

you cannot reclaim charges for running an account, just for charges for going overdrawn etc. Overdraft interest cannot be claimed back. Please see Reclaim Help Thread for what you can and cannot claim back.

I got charged an overcredit limit fee for an item I thought would not be processed on my card. Sent in a letter stating I was not happy and that for going £100, £12 should not be charged since it is a penalty rather than a fee i.e. a punishment. Got a response back stating that it was within the t&c's they could charge this. Not being relative to their cost is what annoys me. Banks are getting out of hand and need to be controlled. Profit margins speak for themsleves.
  • I've just completed the list of charges the banks taken off me over the past 6 years and am ready to download the 2nd letter but I am unsure about a couple of charges any help would be greatly appreciated. The first one I have come across is Referral Charge the amount varies from £25.00 to £85.00 initially in 2001 they were every few days then in 2006 just monthly.
O/Draft Arrangement Fee is another one seem to be every three months and around £110 each time, Excess Borrowing with the amount of days and finally Revisal Fee. I know most of these subjects have been discussed but I think I must be a little slower to absorb than most people. Thanks
  • Apologies if been alsready covered, but am thinking finally of getting round to tryning to reclaim my charges from HSBC,but am struggling with what i claim for have looked back on old statements and have have money taken for interest and total charges can i claim for both of these or just the total charges, thanks amanda
