Mopinappan why you insistent about tesco charging for receipts ? You have been proved your wrong by liam (thanks liam) so does that make your theory about waitrose being linked to smiths, currys and pets at home being just trash.

    Because he is a troll.

In my local co op they don't ask if you want the receipt - you have to ask them for it. Amidst much tutting and puffing and blowing, it's then shoved at you over the counter.

I can't believe the number of times they've overcharged for something - like if an item's 2 for the price of 1, they just charge for 2 at full price.

When they huff and puff, you should say very sweetly but very loudly; "I'm sorry but I've been overcharged here so many times I need the receipt to check".

Choose a day when there are plenty of customers in the queue and they'll soon learn that huffing and puffing is not such a good idea.

I work in Sainsbury's and on the tobacco kiosk we have to ask if the customer wants a receipt, because the purchases are small and you don't really need a receipt for tobacco or lottery. Although if you pay by card it automatically prints a card receipt.

Well I hope someone here is prepared to cough up the 20p they owe me.

I went to Tesco today and was charged 20p for the receipt, I asked the cashier about it and was told it is a trial.

I have attached the receipt below:

You must think we were born yesterday. (You haven't even managed to create a fake with consistent formatting.)

Thanks to those replying to my Co-op receipt query. Wish the Tesco receipt folk would go away and start another thread.!

    Not a Tesco Extra receipt

'Please pay the cashier before leaving with your purchases'.
How do you get a receipt without paying first?

Photoshop no! More like Microsoft Paint!

Right, I have been up to my Co-op again and spoken to the Manager. He says there are 3 questions which must be asked of all customers.

    Do you have a membership?
    Do you want a bag?
Do you want a receipt? (only if paying cash)

I asked, why do you ask about receipt? His reply - 'Don't know, just told that this is what we do!' I asked if it was some sort of 'green policy'. His answer 'Maybe, but we haven't been told'.
