    Proof of no charge.

No special request for a receipt. Same as it always has been, given the receipt with my change.

    No mention of any trial.

Unless you have evidence to the contrary, I believe that Liam8282 has just proved that you are indeed either talking rubbish or are a troll.

    So, which is it?

More likely to be to save ink rather than paper isn't it? After all, a non-itemised receipt is still as long (presumably it prints a column of prices without product descriptions?), so still using same amount of paper. Ink is the pricey thing these days.

Most receipt printers don't use ink, they have thermal reactive till rolls, so the "ink" cost is always the same.

I think a non-itemised receipt would just print the total amount too, not a column of prices.

Got to be paper saving, the till could have an option for "does the customer want a receipt" and you press a button depending on the answer.

When I worked in the coop for a short while our new tills had that option (this was circa 2004)....got varied responses from customers!

I don't mind if people ask me if I want a receipt in shops. I usually pay by card most places, so a receipt would automatically be given.

I always take my receipt from the self scan checkout in Asda, in case I get challenged by security and I have proof of what I've paid for. Quite often I've gone to the self scan checkout and there is still a receipt sticking out of the slot.

It's the first I've heard about this charging for receipts nonsense in Tescos. I get my shopping online from them anyway. If it was true, then I would certainly start shopping elsewhere!

What does annoy me is when I go to a checkout and get asked endless questions by the operator. A recent trip to Superdrug proved this

This is how the conversation went....

SA:- Do you need any stamps or mobile top ups?
    Me:- No thanks
SA:- do you have a points card?
    Me:- No (confused look)
SA:- Would you like one? It's similar to an advantage card.
    Me:- Erm, no thanks.
SA:- Would you like a bag?
    Me:- Yes please
SA:- Would you like your receipt?
Me:- Yes please. Is that the last question?
SA:- (Giggles nervously) yes, until I serve the next customer.

Final thing that annoys me is when the SA gives you your change, when there's a note, they they put it on top of your receipt and then coins on top of that. And don't give you your receipt separately.

That's probably because Mopinappan appears to have made it up (despite saying it's a Regional trial).

Liam8282 has (today) shopped in the same store that Mopinappan says are doing a trial and has posted a copy of his receipt showing no charge for the receipt at all.

Mopinappan also seem to think that Clarks Shoes also charge for receipts.

Will only have a short window to reply as he will have homework and then eat his greens and then off to bed.

Mopinappan why you insistent about tesco charging for receipts ? You have been proved your wrong by liam (thanks liam) so does that make your theory about waitrose being linked to smiths, currys and pets at home being just trash.
