i emailed the 2nd time to say that whilst i was annoyed i didnt wish to make a formal complaint and realised that mistakes are do happen.

    should i not have bothered?

And that's why it's always best to calm down and have a think before firing off emails. ;)

Ah just wait until you get the cut and paste report......with the wrong child's name on it.

I was so tempted to write in the comments box - I was pleased to see Joe Bloggs doing well in X - could you now tell me how my child is doing please!

Lol, my 15 year daughters recent report from some teachers was a cut and paste as refered to her as "he" in several individual subject reports. The most amusing however was the one that made little sense at all through most of it, due to being a poorer cut and paste effort but the final sentence stated that "she must allow time to proof read GCSE test paper answers before submitting to achieve top grades" .

You think that's bad - I was once given someone else's smear test results and she was bring recalled for abnormal cells!

    Now that is shocking!
And it puts the OP's complaint into perspective.
  • thanks again for all your help folk
Sometimes you need other peoples perspective to see that you may be over reacting just a little!!!!

OP I think you are still over-reacting. Your son got someone else's results yesterday, you can't find out your son's results until Monday. Realistically nothing is going to change between yesterday and Monday, his results certainly won't, and the school already know what those are, so whats the big emergency for you to know right now? What difference will it make to your son? None whatsoever - and thats the important thing in this.

I can understand you being a bit irritated that you don't have your son's report scores (whatever they mean to a reception class), but I wouldn't even have contacted the school yet, I would have waited until Monday morning, contacted the office, explained what happened, and given them the chance to apologise and put it right. End of story, and no need for anything else.

Now, enjoy your weekend, put it to the back of your mind, you're only upsetting yourself, nothing else can be done until Monday and its really not a big deal.
  • my only excuse is that its the first child i have at school.

thanks also to those who said i need to be careful and not get involved in the competitiveness that there is and even in reception year this is evident.this colleague of mine wanted to know the results of the child whos report card i'd been given to compare to his child and is always saying how well his child does at everything.

I have always told my child to just do his best an i will always be proud of him but it is very easy to get involved in the competitiveness.
  • thanks balletshoes your right whats done is done i did email to say nothing official was necessary i cant get the results till monday best just enjoy the weekend can you tell am a bit of a worrier and suffer from anxiety so whilst its not a big deal i tend to get really really worked up/anxious over things.

We all learn as we go along with schools.

It is easy to fall into the trap of parental competition but that doesn't really help your child whichever end of of the academic spectrum he is at.

I would do as Ballet shoes advises on Monday morning.
