It depends what you said in the first email and what you said in the second email.

We had that this time. "***** really enjoyed her trip to *********"

Unfortunately......... she was ill that day :rotfl:

I was very surprised to find that my son, who missed most of secondary school because of poor health, did very well in his Stage 3 French SAT!
  • I am suprised that this happened it is a breach of privacy/confidentaility if not DPA

I think I'd be annoyed -I'd make an informal complaint -and I'd let it go.

Ranting on about DPA is not going to do much except make the teachers think you're a drama queen parent -and you presumably have another five years of co-operating with these teachers as your child progresses through the school so usually better not to be thought of that way as if you do have a genuinely serious matter to deal with there is the risk some may think it's less serious than it is if you've built yourself a drama queen parent reputation beforehand.

It's a small mistake......have you never made one yourself ?

i said i was annoyed and upset that someone had personal info about my child a stranger and could discuss his results with others

    then this at the end
I am suprised that this happened it is a breach of privacy/confidentaility if not DPA. There are 15 children in my sons class how long would it have taken just to check that the results page was the right one for each child

Similar happened to me some years ago in that I got the wrong report when my daughter was in year 2 and it had the KS1 Sats results enclosed. I just rang up the other Parent and arranged to go to her house and swap over the reports over a coffee. She mentioned it to the school office when dropping off that we had done this, received an apology, which she was asked to extend to us and that was the end of it. Like others have said children discuss reports themselves (plus the test results) and Parents too so I thought it was not a big deal and just a minor mistake.

I personally wouldn't complain and just look to get the correct report. As others have said personally I would advise you to reserve any complaints for more serious issues. In my experience if you are a Parent who is known to reasonable and not given to making complaints, the school will taken on board and deal quickly and well with any issues you might have.

You are surprised that it happened? Didn't you think at the time (as I, poet123 & Laurel7172 have said) that it was a simple mistake? OK, a mistake that shouldn't have happened, but it did.

Imho, it's always a mistake to start mentioning various acts and laws unless you know they have been breached or broken.

What 'personal' information is in a 5 yr old's school report?
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
