school gave results to someone else

But you posted asking if your reaction was understandable, and some of us think not. Whats the problem? If you thought you were being fully reasonable and had no doubt, why post in the first place?0

It is not ideal, it will be human error in a busy school office. However, in the scheme of things this will be the tip of the iceberg of issues you will face with your child during their school years.
Things happen, how serious they are should be a barometer for our reactions to them. Stand back and think does this really matter, if it is a worry that your child has not performed well and that you don't want anyone to know, then you are in danger of falling into the competitive parent trap, and that comes at a huge cost eventually.
If you kick up a huge fuss and invoke the DPA you will be marked out as a problem parent. This is human error, accept it and move on.0 -
Do they really give results, marks and scores to reception year children?
And if they don't proceed onto the national curriculum then what? Even children with a learning disability go onto the national curriculum and get a positive narrative report rather than a score showing them as 1 out of 10 which can really demoralize a child.
What would anyone ever use the scores for?:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

This happened to us last year. My son was 6 and I had another child's school report. I knew were he lived and when I called over they had my son's report and we swapped.
His mum kicked off at the school but tbh I wasn't that fussed as it was easily remedied and wasnt that big a disaster in the grand scheme of things.0 -
Obviously i did have doubts or wouldnt have posted! i dont believe i stated anywhere that i thought i was 100% right.
I know mistakes are made. But on previous occasions they have given childrens records to other parents. I have received another childs records. This meant that that child couldnt do any spelling/reading till the following week.
I think if it had been a one off i would just have put it down to a mistake0 -
I have two thoughts.
1 there has been a serious breach of data protection. I would get the ico in and have all those responsible sacked and the organisation fined the absolute maximum.
2 are we really doing this to children that age. I took my first exams aged 9, and got a report aged 9. This is far too early.
Read my other posts with regard tick box education.I hvae nt snept th lst fw mntes writg ths post fr yu t cme alng hre nd agre wth m!

If your child stays in reception and most others move on, it will become pretty much general knowledge, unless the school is huge.
5 year olds are terrible at keeping secrets!0 -
Its a mistake and not that big of a deal in the scheme of things. No one else will care how well your kid is doing, just wait til Monday and get the report then.
If you get this worked up over something like this, Id hate to see what you did if something bad actually happened in your life.0 -

It won't stay private for long because it will be fairly obvious to the other Mums which child is doing what type of work.0 -
Your child is in reception, it's not as though these are important results that you must have yesterday.
If you don't already know the basic results anyway from talking to the teacher, that is your fault.
You shouldn't take any action. You should calm down and realise you are making a mountain out of a molehill.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
