1 there has been a serious breach of data protection. I would get the ico in and have all those responsible sacked and the organisation fined the absolute maximum0 -
If there wasn't a DPA in existence, would you bring the DPA in just to avoid this sort of situation? I think not.
It's a 5 yr old's 'results' for what they are worth. Just enjoy your 5 yr old and if you have any issues regarding their development then a report being seen by another parent is really not going to change anything. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
In the unlikely event your child has to stay in foundation stage, it's hardly going to be a secret from the other children/parents, is it? Won't not turning up to Year 1 give the game away?
I realise it shouldn't happen, but school staff are human, and (declaration of interest), school reports have a habit of being put into envelopes at quarter to three on the day they go out to parents. I should know-I collated and bagged three sets yesterday. I'm terrified of getting the wrong report in the wrong envelope and I have a whole set of personal checks and strict orders of action to try to make sure it doesn't happen, but it's a job that's always done under time pressure, and one day I might make a mistake. I'm neither a machine, nor God, after all.
I'm very sorry it has happened to you, OP, and I'll be mortified if I find out on Monday I've made the same mistake. But it's really not going to matter in the overall scheme of things.import this0 -
Btw, if I could, I'd show my DD's report to everyone at schoolFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

interesting points of view i still believe i was and am right in being annoyed. i emailed the school to say so before posting here though i did quote the dpa!!
i have emailed to say the previous email was to express my annoyance rather than a formal complaint/0 -
I think you are making a big deal out of nothing to be honest, does it really matter all that much, it is reception year for goodness sake not Uni results.
Over the years I have had mix ups at my kids school, occasionally they will come home with someone else's reading bok and marker or their homework jotter,
In these cases I have just popped a note in their bag to say that we had the wrong book.
Mistakes happen and to be honest if your child was not performing to the standard needed to go on to the next level I think as a parent you would know already and even if this is the case another parent knowing is not really relevant, they would come to know anyway when your child did not progress with the rest of their class.1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480

I think emailing them twice and quoting the DPA is a mistake.
School staff are, in my experience, a very tight knit community. I wouldn't be surprised to be discover you are being discussed in the staff room."Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0 -

I think Laurel7172's post (#24) is excellent.
Both I and poet123 mentioned human error too.
I'm curious what you said to the school about DPA in your email.
Are you familiar with the Act?
Do you know for sure that the school has breached it?
I'm not saying they haven't, just asking if you think or know that they have.0
