Hi
I dont even know if i am posting in the right place.Apologies if not.
I received my child reception year results and report. The report i have, however the results i have are for another child and my childs are with them.
they are marked on 9 themes and then an overall score given. if a certain amount is not achieved they dont proceed onto the national curriculum.
I am really angry about this i rang the school and was told they couldnt do anthing till monday i couldnt even get his result.
i just want to know if my reaction is understandable how would you react and what action if any you would take? what action can be taken?
i left it till today to email the school so that i would have a clearer head.
A colleage of mine who son had done well seems to think its no big deal whereas another thoughtit was a huge breach of dpa/confidentiality.

Results? For reception children?
I think you're overreacting. What exactly is it that you're worried will happen as a result?0 -

This.
It's an error where someone else has seen the results of a (5 year old ?) child .
Yes, it's very annoying but it's not in anyway going to affect your life or the life of your child. Don't blow it out of proportion.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Actually, how do you know someone else does have the results? Are you assuming or do you know?Herman - MP for all!0

i know when i rang the school i was told that the other parents had already rung0

I don't think it matters what the content of the report is or how well a child has done (or hasn't done), the point is the school has been sloppy about distributing pupils' reports.
It is likely to be human error - i.e. someone has put the wrong report in the wrong envelope.
If it were GCSE or A level results, I can see a reason to be angry, but if it were me, I'd tell the school that I'm not very impressed at such an elementary mistake and leave it at that.0 -
I dont think its too big a deal. Maybe it would be with GCSE results or ALevel but your son/daughter is 5 years old!0

its not about the age or exam level.
Its the fact that they are giving personal information about my child to someone else.
I dont even know whether my child has achieved the level required.
If my child has had problems and has to remain at foundation level this is information that is between me and the school0 -
and whilst i dont take part in the my kids a genius game that exists even in reception years if my child is doing well/not doin so well its is up to me who i tell0
-
You know who the child is, why don't you contact the parents and swap reports ?0

Yes, it's wrong that they did this, I think everyone would agree with that.
Once you have decided it's wrong, you then move to the question of 'well, what are the consequences of them doing this'?
The reality is, there are no serious consequences. The trivial consequences are - someone else knowing what a 5 year old scored and of a parent having to wait a few days to know a result.
You really need to keep that in perspective.
Edit: I understand your annoyance but what do you want or expect the school to do?Herman - MP for all!0
