school gave results to someone else

It shouldn't have happened and I do think they should have been able to give you results over the phone when you rang to put your mind at rest your son would be progressing. I'm getting the impression that your son is not in state school (as they progress to the next year no matter what) and from what you said about the competetiveness of the other parent wanting to know the results (and I know state school parents can be competitive too!) but if he is I think you need to chill a bit about things or the competetiveness/results pressure will blow your mind over the years. However as the results are the key to whether your child progresses they should expect parents to be a bit fraught over the whole thing. I'm sure if you no longer blow your top at them then they will not blacklist you as a problem parent, but it shouldn't have happened and they should be more careful.
I have found with school not to react too quickly and then make contact, as usually I've calmed down by then.
Ps. If you suddenly did find out your son wasn't doing well enough to progress and hadn't known this, then tbh I'd question the school operating in this manner without letting you know there was a problem
Oops - just re read your OP and note you mention national curriculum so not private - in that case then however much of a pita a parent is they can't refuse your next child, so don't worry about it over the weekend!Grocery challenge July £250

When you say "results" do you mean their report?
Personally I think you are making a big thing out of nothing.
The only personal information our reports have on them is the address and telephone number.
Surely you are adult enough to swap reports with the parent(s)?

I don't think I would be particularly annoyed at such a situation but I do think it is fair to alert the school to their error and suggest that in future they take more care regarding the correspondence sent from the school to parents regarding their children as there is the possibility for a "serious" mix up to occur in future and a little extra care in the office can prevent this.0

You think that's bad - I was once given someone else's smear test results and she was bring recalled for abnormal cells![/QUOTE]

And it puts the OP's complaint into perspective.
I can one-up that story!
I have an extremely unusual name, it is British in nature but my first name is very rare, my middle name is an old fashioned spelling and my surname is uncommon, i.e. if you type only my first and last names into google you only find references to me let alone adding my middle name.
When I went away to university it was a requirement that we registered with the local doctors' surgery which was done via the nurse's affiliated office on campus.
I then went on to spend the fittest three years of my life, I never set foot in the nurse's office again and I couldn't even tell you where the doctors' surgery was, let alone been in it.
Two years after that I recieved a telephone call from the surgery - it took me a minute to even place the name of the surgery and who was calling, inviting me to discuss my test results there and then :eek:
I explained that they couldn't possibly be my results and promptly had the phone put down on me!!0 -
What the OP should have done is to wait until Monday, once they've calmed down. A quick phone call to say "i've received someone else's childs results" is all that was needed really.
It really isn't a big deal. There will be much more important things to get worked up over during the childs school life. No one will be that interested in how YOUR child is doing.
The worst thing is when they come home in another childs clothes !! Your own childs clothes invariably never turn up. I've lost count of the times cardigans, sweatshirts, socks etc have been accidentally swapped at school !0 -
It will be the outcomes of the EYFS profile. It is not a test and they are not results. It does not stop you moving onto the national curriculum.
From 0-5 children's progress in EYFS settings is plotted against the development matters in the EYFS. The point is to plan for the next steps in children's learning. In Reception continuous observational assessment is in place and these feed into a national end of year summary against 117 statements typical for the development of a 5 year old. They are outcomes from continuous assessment not results from a test.
They are not standardised and so gender and age is the most significant difference in outcomes. Autumn born girls get higher outcomes overall than Summer born boys.
The outcomes do not plot directly to KS 1 outcomes however benchmarking in 2009 showed an interesting correlation which showed that many children below the average at Reception exceed the national at age 7.
The national benchmarking is called the GLD or good level of development. This is a previous psa target and never designed to be used at school, cohort or child level. It is acknowledged as pretty pointless and the aps or average points score is more accurate. If you meet the gld of 78 points and 6 across all areas in psed and cll you would be below the national.
Don't worry about it. This is the last year it will be in place.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving

Two weeks ago, I was sent some results from a Newcastle hospital in error.
Attatched to the letter was an A4 page full of colour photographs of someone's peptic investigation, including about 6 close up photos of the insides of their stomach.

I also would like to add my tuppence of thought as an early years teacher. Please delete is right 9 is an exceptional achievement (this score is near impossible on the new eyfs!) children are expected to achieve 7 across all the 6 curriculum areas however, a child can achieve a 6 in one area and 8 in another and still pass the total accepted score. If a child is scoring under the expected total or under 7 in areas this is what a year 1 teacher will initially focus on within teaching the National Curriculum. It is expected by the end of the Autumn term that the majority of Yr1 children are on the National Curriculum.A big thank you to all those who post on the forum and make it a worthwhile place!!!:j0

Lol, my 15 year daughters recent report from some teachers was a cut and paste as refered to her as "he" in several individual subject reports. The most amusing however was the one that made little sense at all through most of it, due to being a poorer cut and paste effort but the final sentence stated that "she must allow time to proof read GCSE test paper answers before submitting to achieve top grades" .
Probably not copy and paste but comment banks. Most high schools now have a computer system with a set of comments for each subject. Teachers just tick the boxes next to the statements which are needed. Sometimes the comment banks have he instead of a section for the computer to fill in the gender.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -
