Peel banana, wrap in cling-film & freeze (as suggested above) then put in a blender/food processor with a little bit of milk and some crushed nuts and whiz - makes a lovely banana "ice-cream". You can also add a bit of grated chocolate as well. I think you could also add some other frozen fruits eg raspberries.0

ooh, that sounds yum, esp with raspberries in it too.0

Another thing you can do with bananas, if still fairly firm is to halve them, stick lolly sticks in the end, drizzle with honey and roll in chopped nuts - much betterfor kids than ordinary 'lollies'.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

black bananas.........cut open longways.....sit in a foil jacket....pour in brandy/favourite spirit and pop on BBQ....okay.....best summer yes...but v nice ;D
could grill or oven i suppose...Once the realization is accepted that even between the closest human beings infinite distances continue, a wonderful living side by side can grow, if they succeed in loving the distance between them which makes it possible for each to see the other whole against the sky.0 -
I buy bananas every week half go in the fruit bowl and half in the fridge. They last about a week like that.If they do go black it will only be the skin so if you have fussies in the house you can peel them and slice for banana sandwiches, bananas and custard or as part of a fruit salad.
Bananas are lovely grilled and then a big dollop of yoghurt and another of jam.0 -
I thought putting them in the fridge made them go black quicker :-/I am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. (ALMOST) INSTANT BANANA ICE CREAM
This tastes SO sinful yet is actually very low fat.
4 ripe, peeled bananas cut into chunks and open frozen so they remain separate.
half teaspoon vanilla essence
3 tablespoons sugar
5 fl oz buttermilk
1. Put frozen banana chunks, sugar in bowl of food processor.
2.Add vanilla and half buttermilk and process for a few moments.
3.Pour in remaining buttermilk in a thin stream while machine mixes everything into a smooth, creamy mixture.
4. Spoon into bowls and eat at once!
You can vary this recipe by substituting ground ginger for vanilla or by adding a few drops of rum, favourite liqueur or whatever takes your fancy!0 -
gotta try that, sounds fab.0
