Resurrection of an old thread here. just wondered if someone could help me out???
I have put bagsof bananas in the freezer ready for banana loaf, I also have 4 banana loaves already in there! Am I able to use the frozen ones in DD2's brekkie? She normally has half a mashed banana with 1 weetabix, do you think it would be OK to defrost them one by one? If so, how????
Thanks,

I would think this would be ok.I defrost them in the microwave,I think for about 40-50 secs for one.I use them for muffins but I'm sure i've mashed them up with porridge for a toddler breakfast in the past and they've been fine.HTH0

Depending on how fussy the toddler is, you might have to acclimatise them to the look of a defrosted mashed banana. I may be quite wrong, but they might look darker than a fresh one would.
Personally, the darker the better ... My packed lunch favourite as a child was banana and jam sandwiches, and if I'd managed to squash the sandwiches before eating them they tasted all the better for it! And no-one else was going to want to share them with me!

Peel them and put them in the freezer (I don't even bother wrapping them to do this). They taste lovely, like a banana lolly and can still be used in recipes if you want.
ps Banana bread pudding is a great favourite in our house.0 -

Pal wrote:Don't remember the name of the recipe but you can put bananas inside a slit chicken breast, wrap in bacon and lie them on a bed of sweetcorn in an oven dish and pour some cream over it. Then cover and cook in the oven for half an hour or so. I got it from a Jamie Oliver book but apparently it is quite a famous recipe.
Chicken Maryland. I've got the Jamie O Book too.... Have yet to make the Chicken Maryland though. :-)“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -
