Just a small concern...........how safe and secure is any personal data downloaded or uploaded via Ovivo?
It's not a company with any kind of track record, and the economics of the operation do look, shall we say, unusual - it could just be an elaborate data gathering exercise.0 -

You should never trust personal data sent over the network in clear text and you are right to be concerned. It's much harder to check that you are on a secure website on a mobile phone but it is possible. You could also set up a VPN in which all data sent is encrypted and Ovivo/Vodafone or whoever never see anything at all apart from your encrypted traffic between your phone and your VPN server.
That worries me.
My main concern, though, because any purchases would only be via Amazon and eBay/PayPal (secured, I think), would be the Gmail app.
Then again, though, I think any emails that come in or go out via Gmail are secure.
Or have I got all that wrong?0 -
Emails are never completely secure!
You can make gmail more secure by switching on https. Without https your email can be easily hacked if you use WiFi in a public place.0 -

Good advice. Fortunately, Gmail defaults to https, so unless you've been fiddling with the settings you're probably OK.
I'm guessing the Gmail app's equally secure?0 -
Based on the comments on this thread and that re the Huawei g300, we have bought the 'phone via Quidco/the Very new customer route and an Ovivo sim. This is our first venture into the wonderful world of smartphones - just a pity about this particular owner! So, newly purchased Ovivo sim installed off we go.
The wi-fi of the 'phone works well but we cant access the net via the mobile network despite testing it in a few locations and with what seems to be generally very good signals, Calling and texting seem fine, have changed the settings as set out by Ovivo and still no access.
It may be a dumb question but I've looked through this thread and that about the 'phone and cant find a solution. Have also been in touch with Ovivo who say they will send the settings which doesnt seem to have happened. If anyone has the time to post their Ovivo settings for this 'phone or can shed any light then we'd be really very pleased.0 -

I have the same phone, and the settings are the standard ones, I think. The APN settings are on the Ovivo website (or you could use the Tweakker app) and it might be worth double-checking that the phone's properly set up with them.0 -
